SandyS (6.08pm) No I was trying to be humorous and clearly failing miserably.

A recent paper compared OCO-2 with TCCON.

This a pre-publication release dated 29th August 2016, and is concerned with calibration. From the abstract, the two CO2 measures broadly agree.

It seems rather early to expect published papers on the OCO-2 data when the calibration papers are only just reaching publication.

It also begs the question. How does ACK know that the OCO-2 data is wrong? If he is mistaken, and the data is correct, what are the climate scientists ignoring if the OCO-2 data matches existing TCCON.data.

Are you sure you are OK, ACK? Your wits seem rather below par.

SandyS that size and scale of windturbine is "Backpackable", and ideal for emergency use of phone/sat nav etc. A bit bigger can run a 12volt watermaker/purifier etc and would be brilliant for disaster relief work in isolated areas.

The alternator bit is the bulk and weight. The shaft and blades/sails is the bulk and weight saving, though reduced life expectancy. There is a real need for this sort of kit that is backpackable, combined with solar and a Bayliss clockwork motor!

Are you saying that because the measurements aren't what we expected they are erroneous, or because the results aren't what we expected it doesn't mean they are wrong? Or are you giving a view on why the results aren't being published as seen by a Climate Scientist?

Indeed ... but nobody has actually said that and as far as I can see -the calibration is stable and consistent with the surface stations. The observed distributions appear to follow seasonal weather patterns in part and some human emissions can be inferred ...

There has been a persistent refusal of the big wigs of CO2 alarmism to even acknowledge the observations - let alone seek to figure out what is causing the ebbs and flows of the observed changes.

Some rigor and confrontational kick-arse is required. O/T but related ... I recently watched a documentary on the development of the Apollo navigation system - I found it rather inspiring stuff. What was remarkable was the effect of Bill Tindall on the "herding of the cats"....

The portable WIND TURBINE that can charge your phone in the world's most remote locations

I read this headline and thought, if it's that remote then not much chance of signal anyway, something the size of an umbrella might be a bit a bit too bulky, Trevor Baylis solved the problem for radios.

I can't recall any either.

Trump is looking to put the Climate Budget into more space exploration. Some of the top climate experts could stay close to their budgets, and be blasted into space on top secret missions.

Douglas Adams wrote about the Golgafrinchan B Ark.

It is incredibly important that at least 30 years of climate data should be collected personally by climate science experts on distant planets, before any intelligent form of human life tries to live there.

Tomo. The satellite output is full of errors - it must be because preliminary results fail to match model expectations and thus must be error-strewn. We need more money and no hassling from politicians.

@gc

re Earth Science

I keep coming back to the OCO-2 mission - it would seem to me that observations being studiously ignored..... We are regaled regularly with the observations of Pluto, Ceres and Mars etc.and the consequent public head scratching while OCO-2 bleeps its way monotonously around the Earth unremarked since the observations conflict with "consensus"

I hope one of DT's advisors has the wit to use the lack of OCO-2 analysis as a stick to prod NASA with.
