Discussion > President Trump

gc - quite a contrast between the Saudis bumping off a Qatari agent and the "disappearance" of the head of Interpol - niether of which are DJT direct topics - but still.....

tomo,

Ferrero Rocher is losing out to Chinese Fortune Cookies and Turkish Delight in the ears of many Ambassadors.

Meanwhile, in the UK's Ecuadorian Embassy, the Ambassador is wondering what to do with Ecuador's least Wanted Man.

The Ottoman Empire was already doomed by 1914, but this sealed it:

Erdogan may not have manufactured this crisis, but he is currently in control, and very confident about it. The Saudi's can't do anything but react to developments because their boss might not like it, and he is the boss.

tomo, this is a manufactured crisis targetted at Trump. Soros helped to fund the EU Migrant Crisis with EU assistance. It has not worked out very well for the EU, and has cost thousands of lives.

It would be a sign of desperation and insanity to create a flood of economic migrants in the Americas, and expect a different result. How many innocent civilian pawns are going to die this time?

If the US Electorate had forgotten about Trump's decision to build a wall, and make Mexico pay for it, why provide a reminder?

Trump has distanced himself from the Saudi Leadership, and made it clear he cannot trust the current Saudi Leadership.

CNN, Clintons and Soros get bombs in the mail - bit of a headscratcher when they're being so successful - let me guess - notes say " hugs & kisses from DJT-NRA-KKK "

Either the USPS is getting sloppy (not unheard of) or the CNN package was hand delivered..... here

CNN appear to have published a photograph of their own bomb .... I thought that was usually a no-no in these sorts of cases at this stage

There was the bomb (?) in the UK a few years ago, which UK Security services photographed etc. The FBI (?) leaked those to the US media

Presumably from a deranged nutter/extremist? If so, how stupid and careless? If Military Grade, still a nutter, but potentially very dangerous.

the viability of the devices seems questionable - most seem fakes - no clear statements on Soros or White House bombs which purportedly detonated.

what isn't at issue though is the claims and counter claims swirling around

hope the perp is found promptly

huh... after falsely claiming to have received a bomb the (anti fracking + pro windmill twerp governer Cuomo has now called out the National Guard ! This could actually escalate - he is that stupid.

Once you roll in mud like that, it sticks like tar. You don’t need the feathers.

Pointman reviews the present state of DJT's oppositoon - the so called Democrats.

tomo, remember how Miliband and Co were caught out by "Shy Tories", not being to willing to voice their support to friends, families, colleagues and pollsters?

Trump supporters are now coming out of the closet at Grass Roots level.

Republican aristocracy had misgivings about Trump, and were split, most notably behind the late (and respected) John Macain. He too had been suckered into authenticating the Steele dodgy dossier.

Democrats probably need a drubbing in a few weeks time, so they can flush their own swamp of Clinton/Obama fanatics, and have previously untainted candidates ready for the next Presidential race.

One for Phil Clarke .....
Nobody wants to defend Mann's Hockey Stick

https://climateaudit.org/2018/10/24/pages2k-north-american-tree-ring-proxies/

Conclusions

● ex post screening based on recent proxy trends necessarily biases the resulting data towards a Hockey Stick shape – a criticism made over and over here and at other “ske;ptic” blogs, but not understood by Michael (“I am not a statistician”) Mann and the IPCC paleoclimate “community”;

● the PAGES 2017 North American tree ring network has been severely screened ex post from a much larger candidate population: over the years, approximately 983 different North American tree ring chronologies have been used in MBH98, Mann et al 2008, PAGES 2013 or PAGES 2017. I.e. only ~15% of the underlying population was selected ex post – a procedure which, even with random data, would impart Hockey Stick-ness to any resulting composite
despite this severe ex post screening (in both PAGES 2013 and PAGES 2017), the composite of all data other than stripbark bristlecones had no noticeable Hockey Stick-ness and does not resemble a temperature proxy.

● PAGES 2013 and PAGES 2017 perpetuate the use of Graybill stripbark chronologies – despite the recommendation of the 2006 NAS Panel that these problematic series be “avoided” in future reconstructions. PAGES 2013 (like Mann et al 2008) used all 20(!) stripbark chronologies, the effect of which had been analysed in Mann’s CENSORED directory. PAGES 2017 continued the use of the most HS stripbark chronologies (Sheep Mt etc) both in the original Graybill version and in a more recent composite (Salzer et al 2014), while adding two stripbark chronologies used in Esper et al 2002 and other IPCC multiproxy studies.

●In the past, I charged Mannian paleoclimatologists as being addicted to Graybill stripbark bristlecone chronologies – which I labeled as “heroin for paleoclimatologists” (also describing Briffa’s former Yamal chronology as “cocaine for paleoclimatologists”. Unfortunately, rather than confronting their addiction, Gavin Schmidt and others responded with haughty pearl-clutching indignation, while, behind the scenes, the PAGES consortium doubled down by perpetuating use of these problematic proxies into PAGES 2013 and PAGES 2017

Dear President Obama & The United States Congress,

Tomorrow leaders from 192 countries will gather at The UN
Climate Change Conference in Copenhagen to determine the fate of our planet.

As business leaders we are optimistic that President Obama is attending Copenhagen with emissions targets. Additionally, we urge you, our government, to strengthen and pass United States legislation, and lead the world by example. We support your effort to ensure meaningful and effective measures to control climate change, an immediate challenge facing the United States and the world today. Please don’t postpone the earth.

If we fail to act now, it is scientifically irrefutable that there will be catastrophic and irreversible consequences for humanity and our planet.

We recognize the key role that American innovation and leadership play in stimulating the worldwide economy. Investing in a Clean Energy Economy will drive state-of-the-art technologies that will spur economic growth, create new energy jobs, and increase our energy security all while reducing the harmful emissions that are putting our planet at risk. We have the ability and the know-how to lead the world in clean energy technology to thrive in a global market and economy. But we must embrace the challenge today to ensure that future generations are left with a safe planet and a strong economy.

Please allow us, the United States of America, to serve in modeling the change necessary to protect humanity and our planet.

I wonder what induced Dishonest Don to go from 'scientifically irrefutable that there will be catastrophic and irreversible consequences for humanity and our planet.' to 'It's all a hoax got up by the Chinese' in under a decade.

We can be sure it is down to a close reading of the scientific literature and not just populist expediency, right? That would be so out of character.

Copenhagen followed Climategate. Global Warmists got a frosty reception in Copenhagen, and many politicians subsequently decided to insulate themselves. Unfortunately, Obama was not one of them.

Sorry, Phil Clarke, I don't buy it. That is not a personal statement by Donald trump (President of the USA). It is a public comment or advert, from long ago, by many people/corporations who simply used their owners/founders names to add weight to a 'petition'. As with the others you cite, it is, at most, a corporate virtue-signaling PR statement which was given clearance by other members of his family. Whatever they may have believed, I doubt Donald Trump Sr even knew it had happened.

Why not just man-up, and admit you made a fool of yourself by lazily mistaking Donald Trump for his son, conflating their public expressions/statements, and then trying to claim hypocrisy on the part of Donald Trump? (Like even if it was true, he wouldn't be allowed to change his mind in the aftermath of Climate Gate? I also gave many of them the benefit of the doubt before that.)

We've all made fools of ourselves in the past by excessive haste to make an argument.
It's how you react that may define how others see you.

It seems that your haste to disparage Trump's personal qualities is just like your zeal to treat Steve McIntyre in the same manner. The vindictiveness smacks of someone unwilling or unable to observe and draw simple conclusions that many others would consider the signature of an adult in adequate control of their emotions and faculties when interacting with other humans.

Let me caution you to caution yourself: Your attitude suggests a dislike bordering on the pathological (unless you are being paid to do it). AKA Trump Derangement Syndrome. Not only does hate lead to the dark side, but it also affects your other mental faculties. In this case it appears to just be simple attention to your reading skills. But unconstrained emotions can also affect your attention when doing such things as driving a car. If the problem starts affecting your mental competence in other areas I think you ought to consider seeking professional help.

Nothing wrong with my reading comprehension. It is the case that the subject of this thread, the current president of the United States, about 8 years before pulling his country out of the Paris Agreement on Climate Change Mitigation, put his name to an open letter stating that

If we fail to act now, it is scientifically irrefutable that there will be catastrophic and irreversible consequences for humanity and our planet.

Given that the science has not changed in the intervening period, there are only so many ways this can be parsed. None of them reflect well on Dishonest Don's non-existent integrity.

But the entertainment value is off the chart. ;-)
