Biggest laugh of the week so far: Simon Mayo was interviewing the Times 'journalist', Caitlin Moran. She's written a book on what would be her manifesto. He asked what would be the key thing she would do if she had power. "Well, Simon, I would teach children how to tell the difference between true and false in the news on the web. I would show them how they can trust sources like The Guardian and BBC compared to other sources (unnamed - but I guess she meant the Daily Mail)"
Oh wow!

Ah so what ?
I don't think many of us would take such stats as gospel.
We already know that Draxes cut down trees are not counted as a CO2 increase in the US and neither counted here when of course CO2 was released.

@RC seems That CutNPaste from Carbon Brief
Today Times had no anti diesel PR ..clear field for Carbon Brief
Not much to celebrate, but The Times thinks so:
The UK has beaten its climate change target for 2020 after carbon emissions fell to the lowest level since the General Strike shut down industry in 1926.
Last year the closure of three coal-fired power stations and the steelworks at Redcar, North Yorkshire, contributed to a 6 per cent fall in emissions.
The fall reflected a shift from coal to gas to generate electricity, with coal use halving in one year, according to Carbon Brief, a website focusing on climate change. Gas produces half the emissions of coal per unit of electricity.
The UK cut CO2 emissions faster than Germany, Italy, France and Spain between 1990 and 2014 and did slightly better than the EU average.
Lack of wind meant that the proportion of electricity…

two weeks to go - but I suspect that The Wheelibin thinks far too much of himself to soil his dignity by clowning around ...
It might re-invigorate the climate debate in some sections of the BBC if he managed a bit of trannie action - I'm sure Viv Westwood would muck in.
