GC, explain please under what circumstances it is OK to treat anyone the way TR was treated, to do the various unlawful things which the appeal court reported. TRs behaviour or worthiness are not relevant.

No, no, no!
This is where you and others, especially Tommy Robinson are shooting the messengers. Why should Tommy Robinson get any credit at all for putting at risk trials intended to address problems that have not been adequately addressed in the past?
Should any Defendants not be convicted because of Tommy Robinson sabotaging trials, will he accept any responsibility for future victims?
Why was Tommy Robinson only involved in disrupting/ sabotaging trials involving one ethnic group? Why not pick on "Christians", responsible for more crimes in the UK than anyone else?
If any of the 2 / 3 / 4+? trials collapses, will you be cheering Tommy Robinson then?
Do you want a Legal System that can be sabotaged by demonstrators in the street, so that members of the most aggressive mobs never get convicted? Is Tommy Robinson really the hero that you want to give credit to?

Rhoda, the state our legal system is part of why I wanted to leave the EU. We need to reduce the number of barriers and excuses between what the public thinks is justice and what's actually delivered. Judges and lawyers have used EU confusion to do pretty much what they want. Any rule coming out of Parliament gets assaulted by 'the EU won't let us do that' at every turn and that's before they play their own games to see how far from the original intention they can get. Whether we'll take the Brexit chance to cut the Gordion Knot is another matter.

AK, there is plenty of ammunition with which to criticize the legal system. All I am criticizing is the use of the legal system to submit TR to a kangaroo court betrayal of process. They locked him up after a travesty of a trial. That is not only my opinion, it is that of the appeal court. I'm glad of the fact that the original injustice has been reviewed. Is it because of the mere resort to appeal or because it has become an international cause celebre? I don't know. But the fact remains that 'they' used the law to stitch up TR because (and I speculate) he is an irritation and undeserving of proper treatment.
I've been meeting a few barristers lately. In a social context. They all agree that the legal system is currently, well, screwed. ( I didn't discuss TR with them).

UaT. A little patience please. Reviewing/homogenization of all weather stations searching for that elusive hotspot takes a little time. The BBC is sure to emblazon this important news if indeed it comes to pass. Hold your breath if it didn't.

Onto more mundane things other than the political bias of the English (in this instance) justice system does anyone know if Europe's/Spain's/Iberia's record temperature was broken yesterday?

PCar: your arguments and comments (to AK) are as twisted as the trunk of an artificially stunted tree - bonsai logic.

Rhoda. You seem confused, criticizing the English legal system and implying bias against the right wing on the one hand, yet ignoring the fact that it was the same legal system that criticized the Leeds judge and his rulings and set TR free on bail. The appeal court upheld his contempt of the Kent court in no uncertain terms.

This is strange. Yesterday evening the BBC was running the "records may be broken in European heatwave" story as their top story on the BBC News website. This morning I can't find it anywhere, not even on their so-called science & environment section.
Does this mean that they've concluded that records aren't going to be broken after all?

1. Re-trial: Not speculating
2. "Changes"? Read again, TR did Not plead guilty. Judge Geoffrey Marson, press & SecBar lied.

What diversion? You claimed he was innocent because the trial was over. Where did you source that from?
Tommy Robinson faces a fresh trial, and evidence. He has not been acquitted. He will be facing Cross Examination. It is the same scenario that Michael Mann keeps avoiding. Both have a track record for dishonesty. What could possibly go wrong?

That is like Michael Mann writing a book, and presenting it as a factual account.
