An Indian Muslim writes

A posting I chanced across the other day, from Lalbadshah, an Indian Muslim. It takes the form of an open letter to the failed Glasgow terrorists:

Dumb fuckers!! WTF were you thinking? Sardar shabashi dega?? That you'll go straight to heaven?? Man! Not only did you fuck yourselves, you've got the eternal curse from every foreign visa aspiring Muslim who actually wants to do well in life. And just when I was beginning to realise that as Indian Muslims, we are doing pretty well upholding our credentials as peaceful folk, you had to go and fuck it all up!!

 Read the whole thing.

It was a pretty inept bit of terrorism, but in the long-established Indian tradition of protest by petrol. Shame they got that bit wrong too. If they'd successfully immolated themselves a shovel and an ash bucket would have been the only requirement, rather than lengthy expensive court cases to fill the bank accounts of crooked terrorist-defending lawyers.

Hmmm, I suppose sitting on your hands whilst your religious conspirators maim and murder innocents qualifies as "peaceful" nowdays.

Methinks Lalbadshah needs to look up the word "peace", it certainly does not mean "apathy" or "neutrality".

Look at men of peace throughout history, did they get that accolade by sitting on their backsides saying "not my problem, mate" or "well, you had it coming to you anyway" ?

Perhaps now he's started being "peaceful", in a kind of self-interested way.

Peace means nonwarring or perhaps harmony, so you are right that it doesn't mean apathy or neutrality. It's still quite possible for someone to be peaceful and apathetic or peaceful and neutral.

If Indian Muslims choose to be peaceful and either of these things, that's good isn't it? It would be nice if they were active in the fight against terrorism, but if they merely refrain from involving themselves on the other side that's a good result I would say, and in reality is probably the most we could hope for.
