Merry Christmas

Internet access has been erratic for the last couple of days, so I'm not sure if I will get a chance to post anything later on in the day.

That being the case, here's wishing all BH readers, and particularly those who help support the site in a myriad of different ways, a very happy Christmas.

Merry Christmas to you and yours ()and to your flock too) Your Grace. I put a couple of quid in the tip jar for some Christmas cheer.

And a Happy Christmas from a decidedly soggy Devon.

Your Bishopness

thank you for running such a high class joint - in fact the sort of place that I would not ordinarily get into and if I did would very soon be thrown out. Thank you also for the effort you put into the fight for the truth. When the history is written I have no doubt you will be one of the heroes. Now I have to go and feed the pigeons so I will wish you all the best over the festive season and wish us all a successful new year.

Merry Christmas to one and all, it's been a real pleasure, throughout 2012, reading the posts of our host and joining in with the comments of those who care. Thank you.

Here's hoping that all have a safe and dry home to protect your loved ones.

And if anyone wants a good laugh (or perhaps a cry of despair) and to see how the other 'side' 'think', how about :-

Merry Christmas, Sir! And a Merry Christmas to everyone who comes by.

And I shall also add, here's hoping for a marvelous New Year, filled with new revelations on the AGW Farce!

Bishop, wishing a most happy Christmas and a healthy, happy, and prosperous New Year to you and your family.

And to the congregation, too.

May this year see fewer personal attacks and more science; fewer scare stories and more calm thinking; and fewer subsidies and more practical energy sources. In a word, more reason.

Compliments of the season to all.

Not quite sure why the climate debate is so fascinating or why this site is the best, but I stop by here for a read even before the Sports pages these days!

And the postman gets a tip at Xmas for mostly delivering bills, so a small token of appreciation winging its way to the Bishop to redress the balance.

Keep up the good work.

And still we eat a hot Christmas pudding when it's a hundred in the shade of a gumtree...
Sheesh! You lot have a marvelous degree of influence.
Happy Christmas to you all who visit this church of sanity.

Merry Christmas, and thanks to the Bishop and his accolytes. This site does what the BBC once did, it informs, educates and entertains in equal measure.

curiously nobody seems to have noticed the Bromwich et al publication and the realclimate post by Eric Steig;

was'nt it a few days ago that the Steig / O'Donnell controverse was mentioned here in relation to Nic Lewis?

well, anyway, enjoy Chrismas and this update from my newsblog:

One hour into 25 December 2012 here in Brisbane Oz. A balmy 24 deg C at the moment, 33 tomorrow. I really shouldn't pass on any salutations. My Sydney mufti Sheikh Yahya Safi has put a fatwa on Christmas. I did mention Christmas to someone yesterday but I think I got away with it.

The New Year is looking very bleak as well. An Australian academic, Professor Richard Parncutt, Chair of the Alois Schicklgruber department of Systematic Musicology and Climate Science at the University of Graz in Austria has issued a Climate fatwa on deniers -

If a jury of suitably qualified scientists estimated that a given GW denier had already, with high probability (say 95%), caused the deaths of over one million future people, then s/he would be sentenced to death. The sentence would then be commuted to life imprisonment if the accused admitted their mistake, demonstrated genuine regret, AND participated significantly and positively over a long period in programs to reduce the effects of GW (from jail) – using much the same means that were previously used to spread the message of denial. At the end of that process, some GW deniers would never admit their mistake and as a result they would be executed. Perhaps that would be the only way to stop the rest of them. The death penalty would have been justified in terms of the enormous numbers of saved future lives.

But bugger it, I'll risk the wrath of the mufti, oil up the .303 that the old man left me and soldier on. Lobster, prawns, mango, beer etc around the pool. Best wishes and merriment to all. A wonderful blog. Keep up the good work Bishop and all commenters.

Thanks for the link. Just read your investigative blogs unravelling the story behind Greg Barker's claim -(‘It might be helpful if the Committee were to look at industrial output, which since 1990 has averaged about 1 % increase per year, while emissions from the industrial sector have fallen by 46 %)...

Reminds me so much of 'I’ve just completed Mike’s Nature trick ...to hide the decline.'

Well, the house is poised waiting for the errant children and assorted guests and as I shall be in purdah for 24 hours (and going cold turkey through not getting my daily fix of BH) may I wish you all a Happy Christmas. With the state of the economy I think it might be wishful thinking to offer up hopes of a prosperous New Year, but let's hope we don't get a Siberian blast of weather forcing us to keep the heating on full tilt and reducing me to penury. Grump, grump.

I think a glass of something is called for...... CHEERS!

Merry Christmas to all, especially ZDB.

I am grateful for the intelligence and wit you all apply to this very vexing topic and for his Grace's generosity in time and effort in making this wonderful place available.

Maybe if i keep reading here, i will someday be able to write as pithily, succinctly, and clearly as do so many of you. Civilization unfortunately has yet to catch up with civilisation.

Be of good cheer.

I am a relatively new reader to Bishop Hill from Oregon. It is a pleasure to read a blog where the subjects are thought out, the responses from around the world are sincere, honest and encouraging. The internet is a great tool for us to keep the leaders of our various countries on notice. It would be a lonely fight without it.

Thanks to every one who contributes, even those who lurk. And even to our trolls and tail pullers. You all make the blog what it is, whatever that is. And finally to BH for keeping this blog "moving".

Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year to all. Long may BH continue to provide a gathering place for those who care about honesty and freedom, in science as well as in other walks of life.

At the risk of sounding self-important I would like to express my special appreciation for those who have contributed beyond blog comments, in some cases at risk to their careers or wallets - Don Keiller springs to mind, also Tony Newbery, Maurizio Morabito, Nic Lewis for his work and of course the Bish himself. Also appreciation for the other academics who comment here with integrity - Jonathan Jones, Paul Dennis, Richard Betts, Tamsin Edwards, Paul Matthews and anyone else I've forgotten (sorry!)

Tip jar hit, a small sum given the amount of reading this blog provides!

Dec 24, 2012 at 6:40 PM | Unregistered CommenterSJF

Yes, this blog is one classy joint. Something good to come out of the shameful and highly orchestrated climate alarmism of recent decades. We'd all have been better off without it, but given that it has happened, we have the consolation of seeing good people like the Bish and his distinguished contributors fighting back. An especially Merry Christmas to them all, and a great New Year!

A little bit more:

ZedsDeadBed-busted
This will not mean much to many people but it relates to an eco fascist troll that comes out of the woodwork whenever the great con climate change/global warming is featured on online discussion boards (mainly Mail Online).
Anyone who disagrees with Zeds warped science are insulted without any action from the moderators.
Doing a bit of research I found the quote below which I posted on the Mail Online article about Wind Turbines. Not 10 minutes later I get informed that my post has been removed because it has caused so many complaints.
Eco fascists or just fascists?

"For those of you who haven’t seen this character before, ZedsDeadBed is not actually a real person, it’s the log-in of an eco-pressure group, who try and undermine the common sense that DM readers have in disbeleiving AGW. The Zeds log-in will say absolutely anything to try and promote the warmist dogma, zealotry and lies."

For no particular reason check out this EU funded ecomentalist meeting place just outside Truro.
