The Bob has a new hit piece in the Grauniad aiming at the Daily Mail:
http://www.guardian.co.uk/environment/2011/jun/16/daily-mail-climate-change?intcmp=122
And it points out that DMGT "achieved Carbon Trust Standard certification for all UK operations, including all subsidiaries" at the end of last year, for "good practice in carbon measurement, management and reduction"...No company that wants to remain profitable can afford to ignore the risks of climate change.
Or the costs imposed by climate change legislation. What the Bob appears to have missed is the Climate Change Levy imposed on businesses. That would add nearly 0.5p/kWh to the Daily Mail's electricity bill but tax relief can be claimed to offset those green costs. The Bob seems to have confused altruism for normal opex reduction measures.

Standbye generators will need to run intermittently to stop them gumming up with the biofuels from a long standstill. similar problems facing seasonal agricultural equipment, in the past combines etc tanks were filled at storage to prevent condensation in the fuel tank. Now we are faced with a total drain of the whole system because the biofuel in the diesel will go off and sulphur which helped prevent this problem is being removed.

I've already ordered the wood for next winter.
I have a full log store. 3 years supply for a normal winter. 2 years supply if it's really cold.
The next step is a fossil-fuelled generator for when the grid starts to fail.

James P: See my earlier comment.

This morning, on R4, Roger Harrabin was obliged to report about the recent reduction in solar activity and the likely result that the world would cool. Despite this, he was unable to resist telling us that greenhouse gases (longhand for CO2) were still a hazard!
If they work as he thinks, then they will help offset the cooling, but if they don’t, then he’s been selling us a crock for years...

There's more madness and waste of money to get rid of that pesky carbon dioxide "pollutant" at http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-scotland-tayside-central-13739552
The BBC documentary about photosynthesis onTuesday night was extolling the virtues of carbon dioxide.
It's a mad world at the BBC

Cumbrian Lad, you're right. We are in the realms of "if models and observations don't match, don't believe your lyin' eyes"!
Three different bits of research have pointed in the same direction and, yes, if they're right then temperature changes are going to happen now (in climate terms) and wouldn't it be a good idea if professors of atmospheric physics (especially professors of atmospheric physics) were scientist enough to accept the possibility that this might be something of significance?
Instead what we hear is the deafening clang of minds slamming shut.
I've already ordered the wood for next winter.
