a while back I FoI'd DECC for information relating to eco-NGO personnel at the department - they don't know is what they're saying - but volunteer 24 folk on secondment in paid positions from external bodies.

The Google search-page logo tells me that it is the first day of Autumn.
The day that stops depressing me is the day I believe global warming is a problem in the UK.

Never mind my Mediterranean climate that the Met office promised me, where is my season of mist and mellow fruitfulness? It was cold last night when I walked back fro the gym.

Pope Francis was welcomed to the White House on Wednesday in an elaborate ceremony during which he praised President Barack Obama's efforts to combat climate change and said American Catholics are committed to building a tolerant and inclusive society that rejects discrimination.

"Mr. President, I find it encouraging that you are proposing an initiative for reducing air pollution," the pope said in his first public remarks since arriving in the U.S. on Tuesday.

Front page alarm:

"Charities could be banned from certain forms of fundraising, such as cold-calling or mailshots, if they break stricter rules proposed for the sector."

And then we get Environment&Environment page alarm:

"The UK government should "resume" its leadership on climate change, former US Vice-President Al Gore has urged.
Mr Gore said he was "puzzled" by the government's wholesale cuts to subsidies for renewable energy."
