With bogus Climate Science claims like that, they should have won awards like Tom Karl's.

Someone asked about old hyperbolic Climate predictions
Here's about an ABC TV prog from 2008 predicating 2015

GC: Yes, an impressive list of 'awards' (was there one for swimming a width of the local baths?). I notice that he never continued his plan to complete a PhD. So just a Masters (not to be knocked, I know), but as a result, it was pointed out at NALOPKT (with pic) that his Pause-Buster paper listed all the authors by name, but not by title, otherwise he would have been alone in his lack of a doctorate.

Speaking of Mann Made Global Warming (tm), Mark Steyn has an update posted from the end of January;

Harry Passfield, worth copying the Wikipedia list of Tom Karl's awards
Verner E. Suomi Award by the American Meteorological Society [11]
Amer. Assoc. of State Climatologists, Landsberg Award(1993)
Amer. Meteor. Soc. Editors Award, J. Climate (1988)
Department of Commerce Gold Medal (1991)
NOAA Administrator's Award (1989)
Department of Commerce Bronze Medal (1988)
Service
Editor Journal of Climate
Associate Editor Climatic ChangeClimate Research Committee (1991–present)
Panel on EOSDIS (1992–94)
Panel on Policy Implications of Greenhouse Warming (1990–1992)
Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change: Lead Author 1995, 1992, 1990
Public Affairs: Numerous news media interviews, testimony to U.S. Congress and briefings to cabinet-level officials and Vice President of the US.
He is obviously highly respected in Climate Science, and lots of people have depended on, and benefitted from his work. Bending the rules about archiving data and other accepted conventions about science publishing, is obviously considered normal practice, unless this Consensus of "prestigious" Climate Science panels and bodies say otherwise.

Re the furore over Karl's paper and Bates's whistle-blowing, I wanted to check out Tom Karl’s qualifications so Googled him. I was fascinated to see that William Connolley had already created a Wiki page about him and this controversy. Needless to say, it was typical Connolley, ‘d’-words and all. It was also noticeable in the edits how comments by Pielke and references to others were deleted, for example:
Neither Mike Morano nor Climate Depot nor Lamar Smith are credible sources. There are several rebuttals out in the web!
Note: I submitted this at WUWT but it went into moderation. Must have been the mention of Connolley!)

26,911 does seem a bit excessive although the Express claims a less verbose 5,000. Apparently the EU put cabbage regulation in the hands of UNECE* in Geneva in 2008 and for cabbages it had UNECE standard FFV-09.
*The United Nations Economic Commission for Europe an even higher authority which presumably Article 50 removes UK participation, much to the relief of greengrocers.

Interesting article over the the WSJ about the current Mann Made drama going on with law suits for anyone who disagrees with the man with the biggest brain in the world (assuming you can get past the registration request of course?).

erm... thanks for that. Mister Mann is one tiresome git. If he was solely inflicted on a bunch or provincial undergrads they'd perhaps have my sympathy - but he''s inflicted on everybody ... - and that needs adjustment.
