German Greens suffer Peak Wind.

http://notrickszone.com/2018/04/24/germanys-wind-energy-mess-as-subsidies-expire-thousands-of-turbines-to-shut-down-environmental-nightmare/#sthash.p9Rqqia4.dpbs

"Now that the wind energy boom has ended, the Baseler Zeitung reports that “the shutdown of numerous wind turbines could soon lead to a drop in production” after having seen years of ruddy growth.

Subsidies for old turbines run out

Today a large number of Germany’s 29,000 total turbines nationwide are approaching 20 years old and for the most part they are outdated.

Worse: the generous subsidies granted at the time of their installation are slated to expire soon and thus make them unprofitable. After 2020, thousands of these turbines will lose their subsidies with each passing year, which means they will be taken offline and mothballed."

I used to live very near to what was the largest flock of parakeets in Surrey (many thousand birds - perhaps over 10,000; I think only the starling migration through Leicester Square was comparable). They chose to roost in riverside trees and a large farm orchard in a greenbelt location near to large suburban gardens, golf courses, woodland, riverside meadows, more farmland (vegetables, soft fruit and cereals) and open water. They're not really townies. I remember early one spring thinking that a very large ancient riverside oak had sprung into heavy leaf very quickly - only to realise as I got closer that it was in fact covered in parakeets on every available twig.
