Above that story New 'clean gas' power plant
Six global energy giants unveil first phase of plans for huge 'clean gas' power plant on Teesside, world’s first gas-powered plant to deploy full-chain carbon capture utilisation and storage.
https://www.thenorthernecho.co.uk/business/17259770.world-first-for-tees-valley-as-multi-billion-pound-clean-energy-plant-announced/

\\ I share your pessimism.
This site has been chosen because there is a redundant pipeline connected to a depleted gas field that can be used to carry the flue gases.
However the costs involved in actually running the plant will add considerably to the unit cost of electricity it produces.
The economics worry me. Is there a subsidy? //

The real reason for French transport failure.
100 of Billions if not a trillion had been spent on French capital investment over this past decade.
It has been squandered on a high mass diesel car consumer war economy of epic size , extremely costly new high speed train routes , battery powered cars and now absurdly investment in hydrogen powered trains ( see note in above article which seems to be delaying the luchon lines repair )
The luchon line will be rebuilt only when they have the new toy , the purpose of the line is apparently not to service the spa town but to play with costly technology .
The French peasantry needed cars with a 2cv design philosophy ( that they can fix themselves) and a basic diesel rail network .
However this would have meant the connected corporates sector would not have been able to capture all available income....
The problem as always is the monopoly .

The punitive electricity demand control regime that is "The Triads" ..... should be inverted and applied to renewables - that would be satisfying....

Michael Hart
The tailoring of content dependent on visitor information is an epidemic - to some extent for advertising it's understandable - far less so for for news and current affairs.... Outside the UK - the BBC attracts premium advertising - Rolex watches, multinational Banks etc. and indulges in formulaic rolling news - the web side is what got my attention - sometimes the production sausage extrusion machine of news gets a completely different shaped nozzle fitted ....

I'd wager that North American coverage delivered to US IP addresses differs from what we are served up. Using archive.org (Wayback) often shows different spin.

When I was living in the US, I certainly noticed the advertising that you didn't see on the BBC website in the UK.
Beyond the commercial aspects, I am confident the BBC feels even less obliged to follow their charter when addressing audiences outside the view of UK residents. Do they even have any formal obligations at all when lying to the rest of the world? I don't know.

Given the financial difficulties of many players in the legacy-media due to internet competition, it might also be argued that the government ought to privatize the BBC while it can still get a good price for it. That could be used to pay any short term bills from a hard Brexit. I'm of the opinion that the first offer from the likes of Tusk should definitely be rejected. Now is the time for a little short term courage from MPs. And if they are ever going to fire May, now is definitely the time to do so, and send a message to EU negotiators. Not holding my breath, though.

Brexit is at Project Hysteria level

and I thought Climate alarmism wasn't yet
.... then I switched on the radio/Twitter

11am news Head of World Meteorological Organisation says
“We are the first generation to fully understand climate change and the last generation to be able to do something about it.”
I guess they read that in the Guardian and copied it into the news.
