A few readers are saying they can't see the comments on "The lords do battle" post. Can you let me know what browser and OS you are using. It's fine for me in FF22 and IE10 (win)
I think this is fixed now.
Reader Comments (40)
Win 8 64 bit and Chrome or ie10 fine.
Doesn't work in Vista 64/IE 9 (tried 64 and 32 bit)
But works in Safari 3.1.1 - probably not current version.
Everything seems working properly in Firefox 22.0 and Opera 12.16 on Ubuntu 12.04.
Can't say the same for the repeated links to "Silverlight" though.
I can't see them in Win 7 and IE 8
... but they show up fine on Win XP and FF 22.0
I can't see the comments in internet Explorer 10.0.7
But it's all OK in Google Chrome version 28.0.150.72
I can't see them in W7 Prof + IE10.0.9
With both FF 22 and IE 10, under Windows 7, comments work fine for me.
I can't see them - not sure what the spec of my computer is; suffice to say I paid for it in guineas.
Windows 7 prof 32 bit works on safari 5.1.7
Works fine on Mac OS with Chrome and Safari (both fully Patched and up to date). However the Parliament's Silverlight does not work at all. Doesn't work off Parliament's web site either.
Comments work fine on Windows 7 with IE 10.0.9200.16635 as does Parliament's Silverlight webcasts.
I suspect problems with Windows and IE are resolved by twiddling settings in Menu: Tools/Internet Options ... what specifically what I don't know.
Opera 12.16 on Win 7 ok.
Win 7 64 bit, IE9 64 bit, not visible
Fine using Firefox 22 on Ubuntu 13.04
Fine on iPad safari. But can I re-echo the general disapproval of silverlight? It's a real pain as almost none of my devices can handle it.
Problem exists on my Vista Home Premium 2007 with IE version 9.0.8112.16421 update version 9.0.18
Works fine. Windows 8.1 (preview) and IE 11.
Not working in Win 7 and IE 9.
I'm getting the various quoted correspondence and then the blue highlight box continues below Matt Ridley's sign-off for about 3 lines to the bottom of the screen.
OK with google chrome/windows xp
On the same computer as above, using IE8, I can't see the comments on that thread (but these comments are visible).
Not working with Windows 7 / IE8, but OK on Win7/Firefox 22.
Machine: Windows Vista 32-bit Service Pack 2.
Works OK in Firefox 22.0
Works OK in Chrome 28.0.1500.72
Fails in IE 9.0.8112.16421
All fine with Win 7 HP 64bit and FF 22.0
Opera via Mac OSX. Everything's fine.
Fine here on Windows XP in Opera 12.16, IE 8.0.6, Firefox 14.0.1 and Google Chrome 27.0.1453
This afternoon, I tried seveal times to open the comments but without success. However, just now (19:02 hrs CET), the comment section opened. I do not know why the position has rectified itself.
For information, I use Windows Vista Home Premium with IE9.
Fixed for me.
Thanks.
I think there may be a pattern here - it appears IE is cr*p.
Fine on FF 22.0 and Win XP.
Is there a correlation between Bishop Hill Readers and not using a "conventional" Windows set-up?
Fine on W7-64bit+Firefox 22.0
Fine on Opera 12.15 and Win XP Pro SP3
Windows XP and Opera here (works fine), also Yandex browser, which has stolen Google's clothes in Russia, apparently. So Mic may be right. :-)
I have Linux (Lubuntu) too...
Working now on Win7/IE8. Thanks!
In IE10 x64 10.0.9200.16635, if you use the developer tools to validate the CSS there are 38 errors and 307 warnings for the relevant page.
Whether any one of the errors is sufficient to cause the page to fail to load in some browsers is beyond my expertise.
Works for me now (Win-7 64-bit Professional SP 1 and IE 9.0.8112.16421).
Seems fixed now for me.
Forget about Windows.

You will have up-to-date versions from FF as well.
Day by day, if you want.
Slightly O/T, but is it true that Silverlight (which is a dog) is the default medium of the Parliamentary broadcast channel? I read recently that MicroSatan is withdrawing support for it, deeming it to be an increasingly obsolete minority use program.
I can make it work on my setup (Vista + FF22) but it is slow, jerky and chews up a massive amount of bandwidth. Watching the Bish's appearance put me over my download limit for the first time ever. If there is any way to convert these recordings into something friendlier, it would be much appreciated.
Nuts.
I spent a couple of hours fussing with Novell "moonlight", a Linux workalike, in both Chromium and Chrome on my Ubuntu 12.04 machine without success. the window would come up and the various toggles, but no content.
