Tamino does Climate Audit Covers - Josh 214

Tamino's recent posts on Marcott et al bear an uncanny similarity to Steve McIntyre's work at Climate Audit. Dave Burton noticed and commented:

Grant, I find it just plain bizarre that you wrote all this and never even mentioned Steve McIntyre, who first figured out what Marcott had done wrong, and whose excellent work is the whole reason you wrote this.

H/t WUWT

This cartoon imagines Tamino, aka statistician and folk singer Grant Foster, putting things right. Do suggest some more songs that Tamino might like to try. I am sure he will be very grateful.

'He's Misstra Know-It-All'*?

wiki:

'The song is essentially a long description of a know-it-all confidence trickster character who is a "man with a plan", who has a slick answer to all his critics and who has "a counterfeit dollar in his hand." '

Old Man (Neil Young)

"Old Mann" - for Marcott

Old Mann look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old Mann look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.

Old Mann look at my life,
Twenty four
and there's so much more
Live alone in a paradise
That makes me think of two.

Love lost, such a cost,
Give me things
that don't get lost.
Like a coin that won't get tossed
Rolling home to you.

Old Mann take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.

Lullabies, look in your eyes,
Run around the same old town.
Doesn't mean that much to me
To mean that much to you.

I've been first and last
Look at how the time goes past.
But I'm all alone at last.
Rolling home to you.

Old Mann take a look at my life
I'm a lot like you
I need someone to love me
the whole day through
Ah, one look in my eyes
and you can tell that's true.

Old Mann look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.
Old Mann look at my life,
I'm a lot like you were.

An embarrassment of riches here, but I love the Model by Crapwork.

Slightly O/T, but when it comes to explaining the disparity between models and observations, perhaps we should be trawling the depths of prog rock lyrics to find some great excuses.

"In and around the lake, mountains come out of the sky and they stand there" (Yes, Roundabout)

sounds like a pretty plausible explanation to me. About as plausible as any of the others, anyway.

This plays loose with model and recon, which I well realize are quite different things, but here's some fun to the tune of Cat Stevens, "Morning Has Broken" --

Model has broken, like the first model
Audit has spoken, not our first guess
Praise for our whining, praise for the model
Praise for the fudging fresh from the clouds

Sprung in completeness where his feet pass

Mann is the sunlight, Mann is the morning
Born of the one light, Eden saw play
Praise with elation, praise every new straw
Mann's recreation of the new recon

A bit late to the folk club - again.

My humble offering is a parody on a parody by the great late Spike Jones and his City Slickers.
Most of our young bloggers on here will not remember 'Hello mudder, hello fadder' but i have taken the liberty to use it.

Hello Mudder hello Pater
It's Sean from my Alma Mater
I can't finish off my thesis
Could you tell me what is meant by ecesis.

Gave my graph to Climate Audit
Got it back without a plaudit
Then sent it to my friend Herr Schmitt
He very kindly verified it as a hit.

I was picked to play ice hockey
But my coach was mighty cocky
He showed us how to do a Trick
But then told me to get a bigger Hockey Stick

All my proxy reconstructions
Are subject to misconstructions
Those critics really make me sick
Just because I spliced an innocent Uptrick

Take me home, oh Muddah Faddah
Take me home I hate Monte Carla
Dont leave on the Internet
Where i might get eaten by these bears

My conclusions are not robust
They're nebulous as stardust
But what matters was their impact
My pals have said that it's now too late to retract

heehee, nice one Josh.
late to party as well, but have to add some rock tunes for tamino to consider covering -

ACDC-"on the highway(substitute highroad) to hell" followed by "shot down in flames, ain't it a shame"
Bad Company - "Bad Company"
Buffalo Springfield - "There's Something Happening Here, what it is, ain't exactly clear"
Black Rebel Motorcycle Club - "Restless Sinner" then "Ain't No Easy Way out" followed by "The Toll"

enough for me, I'll get Skiphil syndrome if I carry on with this :-)

Here we go round the climatology bush,
Climatology bush, climatology bush,
Here we go round the climatology bush
On a warming/cooling morning.

This is the way we work with stats,
Work with stats, work with stats,
This is the way we work with stats
Our tricks are always conforming.

This is the way we draw our graphs,
Draw our graphs, draw our graphs,
This is the way we draw our graphs
With upticks always adorning.

This is the way we select our data,
Select our data, select our data.
Your objections can never matter (cuz)
Our models are well-performing.

This is the way we choose our trees,
Choose our trees, choose our trees
Your objections can never matter (cuz)
Our models are well-performing.

Here we go round the climatology bush,
Climatology bush, climatology bush,
Here we go round the climatology bush
On a warming/cooling morning.

Russell, once more reality humiliates your pathetic attempt at snark. We've just had one perfectly warmed March in the UK - the coldest since WW1 and there was still snow in the ground in low lying areas across must of England in April. Hundreds of thousands of mountain sheep have frozen to death in Wales.

Sure, your fellow rapists of science (Thanks Mauritzio) predicted this as a consequence of (non-existent) warming - here's the evidence:

http://notrickszone.com/2013/04/04/climate-science-humiliated-earlier-model-prognoses-of-warmer-winters-now-todays-laughingstocks/

Meanwhile in Germany, it's even colder:

Consider yourself slam-dunked.

Yes, I know I am beset with "Skiphil Syndrome" but how could we forget Tamino's "Magic" by Olivia Newton-John:

MAGIC

[aka "Magic Mann"]

Come take my hand
You should know Mann
He's always been in my mind
You know that I'll be kind
I'll be guiding you

Building our dream
Has to start now
There's no other road to take
You won't make a mistake
I'll be guiding you

You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your Mann ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all Mann's dreams alive
For you

From where I stand
Mann is home free
The planets align so rare
There's promise in the air
And I'm guiding you

Through every turn I'll be near you
I'll come anytime you call
I'll catch you when you fall
I'll be guiding you

You have to believe we are magic
Nothin' can stand in our way
You have to believe we are magic
Don't let your aim ever stray
And if all your hopes survive
Your destiny will arrive
I'll bring all Mann's dreams alive
For you

I try not to double post, but having just posted this at Jonova, I couldn't resist this thread as well:

as Roger Waters once wrote:

Everybody else is just green,
Have you seen the chart?
It's a helluva start,
It could be made into a monster
If we all pull together as a team.
And did we tell you the name of the game, boy,
We call it Riding the Gravy Train...
