Tamino does Climate Audit Covers - Josh 214
Apr 6, 2013 Climate: McIntyre Josh
Tamino's recent posts on Marcott et al bear an uncanny similarity to Steve McIntyre's work at Climate Audit. Dave Burton noticed and commented:
Grant, I find it just plain bizarre that you wrote all this and never even mentioned Steve McIntyre, who first figured out what Marcott had done wrong, and whose excellent work is the whole reason you wrote this.
H/t WUWT
This cartoon imagines Tamino, aka statistician and folk singer Grant Foster, putting things right. Do suggest some more songs that Tamino might like to try. I am sure he will be very grateful.

Redacting Blues, surely..?

Joan Baez, "The Night They Drove Old Dixie Down"
p.s. random aside, I once enjoyed the enormous pleasure and honor of being part of a relatively small sing--a-long led by Joan Baez, but I won't discuss the circumstances now since it would not be conducive to my preferred web anonymity.... but finding this link/song brought back some wonderful memories for me!!

This could be the anthem for climate science..... "Both Sides Now" is the song by Joni Mitchell (few ppl seem to know that Joni wrote the song) but it was made famous by Judy Collins:

not a title, but it would be great to do something with the lines,
"Something inside is telling me, that I've got your secret"
and
"I am yours, you are mine, you are what you are"
and
"You make it hard, you make it hard, you make it harddddd...." (to keep our stories straight)

Young Mann, are you listening to me?
I said, young Mann, what do you want to be?
I said, young Mann, you can make real your dreams.
But you got to know this one thing!
No man does it all by himself.
I said, young Mann, put your pride on the shelf,
And just go there, to the I.P.C.C.
I'm sure they can help you today.
It's fun to stay at the I-P-C-C.
It's fun to stay at the I-P-C-C.
They have everything for activists to enjoy,
You can hang out with all the team ...
It's fun to stay at the I-P-C-C.
It's fun to stay at the I-P-C-C.
Fifty ways to cheat a paper - Paul Simon
Those Malevolent Men In Their Lying Machines.

Climate Changes
Still don't know what I was waitin' for
And my time was runnin' wild
A million dead end streets and
Every time I thought I'd got it made
It seemed the taste was not so sweet
So I turned myself to face me
But I've never caught a glimpse of
How the others must see the faker
I'm much too fast to take that test
Cl-cl-climate-changes
Turn and face the strange
Climate-changes
Don't want to be a richer man
Cl-cl-climate-changes
Turn and face the strange
Climate-changes
Just gonna have to be a climate man
H/T Bowie
Don't know much about history
Don't know much climatology
Don't know much about a science book
Don't know much about the stats I took
But I do know Shaun I love you
And I know that if you love me too
What a wonderful world this would be
(etc.)
Climate Mann
And all this climate science
I don't understand
It's just my job
Five days a week
A climate Mann
A climate Mann
And I think it's gonna be a long, long, time
'Til touchdown brings me 'round again to find
I'm not the Mann they think I am at home
Ah, no no no
I'm a Climate Mann
Climate Mann
Burnin' out his fuse
And debate alone
H/T Elton
"You took the words right out of my mouth" = TAMeatloaf

We never lost control.
You're face to face
With the Mann who warmed the world."

Proxy Music – Garland, Maine
Make me a deal and make it straight
All signed and sealed, I'll take it
To Michael E. Mann I'll show it
I hope and pray he don't blow it 'cause
We've been around a long time just try try try tryin' to
Make the big time
Wheres the Hockey game?, Garland, Maine.

In the Blue Ridge Mountains of Virginia,
On the trail of the lonesome pine
In the warm sunshine, our heat divined
He found his cone and I found mine
Oh, Mann. Like the mountains are blue
Like the pine, I'm lonesome for you...
Fabulous, Josh (as always) ... and clearly from all subsequent comments highly inspirational! And theduke ....
@Apr 6, 2013 at 6:41 PM: re the far, far better thing that Foster/Tamino has ever done:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=_q9-var1f8w&list=PLC3708E5838A7D3C7&index=5
certainly no argument from me on that one (or with the tunes that follow!)
And now for my own modest contributions to the songbook ...
To the tune of The Bare Naked Ladies' If I had a million dollars:
If I had a million datapoints (or alternatively:)
If I had a million proxies
For the back to the medieval future crowd, to the tune of Greensleeves (of course!):
Alas, my audience, you do me wrong
To treat me so discourteously
For I have laboured all night long
In the cause of sustainability
And (considering the source of initial "inspiration" ... from The Graduate and with sincere apologies to Simon and Garfunkel:)
And here's to you, Mr. Michael Mann
Marcott loves you more than you will know
Gaia bless you, please, Mr. Michael Mann
Heaven holds a place for those who play
Hey, hey, hey
We'd like to know a little bit about you and your files
We'd like to help you learn about yourself.
Look around you all you see are sycophantic eyes,
Strut around the 'net until you feel at home.
And here's to you, Mr. Michael Mann
Gergis loves you more than you will know
Gaia bless you, please, Mr. Michael Mann
Heaven holds a place for those who play
Hey, hey, hey
Hide it in the hiding place where no one ever goes.
Put it in your chart with all your upticks
It's a little secret just the climatologists' affair.
Most of all you've got to hide it from the press.
Koo-koo-ka-choo, Mr. Michael Mann,
Pachy loves you more than you will know.
Gaia bless you, please, Mr. Michael Mann
Heaven holds a place for those who play,
Hey, hey, hey
Sitting on a hot-spot on a Sunday afternoon.
Steering clear of all adverse debate.
Laugh about it, shout about it
When you've got to choose
Every trick you play's a trick you lose.
Where have you gone, Jim the Hansen man,
Our paper turns it's tainted eyes to you.
What's that you say, Mr. Michael Mann
NASA's Jim has left and gone away,
Hey hey hey.
And for an encore ... the climateers' all-time, all-purpose favourite (to the tune of S & G's Sounds of Silence):
Hello darkness, my old friend
I've come to serve some tricks again
Because my proxies weren't worth keeping
Without adjustments and much tweaking
And the vision that would gain me so much fame
Still sustains
Within the sounds of silence.
As I posted earlier at WUWT (where this thread is linked) - these are all actual songs on the theme of cheatin'
Ref “Your Cheatin’ Heart” – surely Josh meant “Your Cheatin’ Graph” ?
[or as another poster suggested, "Your Cheatin' Chart"]
Here are a few more songs for the Tammy Manns to sing:
Always the Last to Know
Between the Cheats
Cheater Cheater
Cookie Jar
Hole in the Head
I Don’t Wanna Know
It Wasn’t Me
Would I Lie to You?
Should’ve Said No
Things That Make You Go Hmmmmm
and...
Party’s Over
Lyin Eyes
Bassline Junkie! D. Rascal
I'm overwhelmed, but still we had our season in the sun.

"The Trail of the Bristlecone Pine".
In this drawing Tamino looks identical to William Connolly (or however it is he spells it). Could they be clowns?
one other opportunity Josh, Shades. They are sold in the US under the name Foster Grant.
Green Door by Shakun Stevens
Green door what's that secret you're keepin'?
There's an old piano
And they play it hot
Behind the green door (Green Door)
Don't know what they're doin'
But they laugh a lot
Behind the green door. (Green Door)
Wish they'd let me in
So I could find out
What's behind the green door. (Green Door)
Knocked once tried to tell 'em I'd been there
Door slammed hospitality's thin there.
Wonder just what's goin' on in there.
