"Eastleigh’s high profile MP Chris Huhne appearing today along with his former wife Vasiliki ‘Vicky’ Pryce on charges of perverting the course of justice in relation to a 2003 speeding conviction." reports the Eastleigh News.
We are not allowed to say much as there is a gagging order on the proceedings, but you can comment on the online story, linked above, but be aware "Comments which fail to praise Mr Huhne may be deleted!!"
Via numerous mentions on Twitter.
Well, that didn't last long. The Eastleigh News story has now been removed.
I also took the opportunity to correct my spelling ;-)

Nice one Josh, talk about hitting the nail on the head.
(have you left out an "R" in perverting above?) Or was it done to catch us out?
*********** *** *** Green Deal Farce ***** **** insulation *** ** ** Huhne ****** *** unthreaded.
As always, done with style, CH with everything crossed, maybe at sometime tomorrow it will include his eyes?
"Comments which fail to praise Mr Huhne may be deleted!!"
Crikey - I thought you were just being a bit sarky - it's one of those things where you don't know if the article author is extracting urine.
Love the headline in the Eastleigh News:
I hope they like my "nice" comment about Mr Huhne...read on.
"I've never met anyone as nice as Mr Huhne
Mind you, I've never met Mr Huhne."

Chris ever listen to K-Billy's Super Sounds of the 70s ?
I think that Chris Huhne is a wonderful human being. May Lords Oxburgh and Deben also be rewarded for their sterling efforts to save the plannit.
Mr Huhne is by far the biggest ****head ever.
High praise indeed.
"Comments which fail to praise Mr Huhne may be deleted!!"
And it would not be a surprise if that includes the court transcript.
**** *** Huhne.
"And this evening, Mr Huhne, your specialised subject is...?"
Well, if the Eastleigh News is on the case, we can all rest easy knowing that fearless journalism has not perished.
Reminds me of the stern 1914 admonishment in the press: “We give this solemn warning to Kaiser Wilhelm: The Skibbereen Eagle has its eye on you."
The comments posted after the article in the Eastleigh News are hilarious!
The article and comments in The Eastleigh News are terrific, and might well become an all-time classic. Watch out, Bishop, you' ve got competition!
"am quite sure that Chris Huhne is as innocent as any of our politicians (upstanding servants of the public to a man, or woman) and I am confident that he will be able to convince the court that the assertions made about who was driving that night are completely untrue.
I am also sure that I speak for everyone when I say that the British judicial system is a wonderful institution, and I hope that all MPs will be able reap the benefit of it in the not-too-distant future…"
Amen!
I read the article earlier this a.m. and returned to add a polite comment but the link is now not working and I failed to find the piece at Eastliegh news.
Too many comments from the Bishop's readership perhaps.
'Page not found' now I'm afraid.
The text of the article can be found at Guido's, see comments 46 and 74.
Here are some of the comments that I saved before it disappeared:

Cheers Bob
That’s exactly the kind of thing our MP needs to hear right now.

I too would like to add my of praise for Mr. Huhne. He is a god among men, He is kind to his old Mum, a wonderful landlord, and as honest as the day is long. I am unworthy to lick the ground on which he walks.

As a staunch defenderof free speech, I wonder if Mr Huhne might be concerned at the caveat attached to this comments column
” Comments which FAIL TO PRAISE Mr Huhne may be deleted!! ” Surely we live in a free society… or do we… ? Is there some hidden agenda here ? Are we seeing balanced reporting ? I have to wonder… !

I’m sure that whatever the outcome, Nick Clegg will welcome Mr. Huhne back into participating fully in LibDem politics and bringing his invaluable talents back to the Front Benches or The House of Lords – his presence is sorely missed at the moment. After all, if Peter Mandelson can, a man of Mr. Huhne’s calibre can surely rise above this minor setback.

Mr Huhne is a top bloke and as honest as the day is long. I particularly appreciate his sterling work at the Department of Climate Change and his promotion of expensive green projects. To accuse Mr Huhne of developing policies which are driving thousands of old people into fuel poverty is as cruel as this nasty allegation of perversion, and this has clearly now gone too far.

Mr. Huhne is a nice man – transparently honesf, he helps old ladies across the street and is kind to his wife. ( Will this do?)

Please do not think that I am not praising the ever so wonderful Mr Paul-Huhne (may all blessings be upon him – this saint among men!) when I send great praise to your headline writer for his/her masterly:
‘Huhne perversion trial starts today’
Genius

Just thought I’d comment on what a great bloke Mr Huhne us. I put all my money into wind turbines and I think he’s fantastic.

Things should go well in court for Chris Huhne, since as I’ve said before, he’s good at getting his points across.
The Eastleigh News story was probably removed because Huhne is not 'on trial' today - the matter is listed 'for mention', usually legal discussions about how the trial will be handled (though a 'for mention' hearing can proceed to sentence if the defendant decides to plead guilty).
As there have already plenty of run-of-the-mill pre-trail hearings in R v. Huhne & Pryce, my guess is this time Huhne's lawyers are pushing to get the case dropped, as Huhne was boasting it would be. http://tinyurl.com/ccey79c and the embarrassment which reporting details of this could cause Huhne's supporters is the reason for the gag.
I imagine they hope to emerge victorious and issue a brief statement along the lines of 'following lengthy and complex legal arguments, the CPS have abandoned the prosecution. Mr.Huhne has been completely vindicated and is on his way back to the cabinet, now please move along".

Wow, a high government official on trila for what we could call obstruction of justice gets a non-public trial?
It is good to be a corrupt official in twilight times.
Talking about media and newspapers.
Donald Trump wants to bye the New York Times.
What a result
