So what about bioenergy?

In the comments on the last thread, Pointman wonders whether there might be problems with some of the other chapters of the IPCC renewables report. This thread is for any findings on the bioenergy chapter, which can be found here.

Got to the executive summary on page 6 when this caught my attention.
"Impacts of climate change through temperature increases, rainfall pattern changes and increased frequency of extreme events will influence and interact with biomass resource potential"
Note the two assumptions dressed up as certainties: temperature INCREASES and INCREASED frequency of extreme events!
No need to read any further folks. The Science is Settled.
The End.

Sorry, Bish.

Life's too short to wade through all this tonight. I need some brain anaesthetic.

So far as the 'conventional' bioenergy technologies go, they seem to be the usual 5% fact and 95% subsidy gulper scams.

Yes, someone might come up with some superbug that solves all our energy needs for peanuts.

When they've got it working at an affordable price, give me a shout.

@Martin
"I need some brain anaesthetic"
Asda are still selling a bottle of Grants for £9 although my local branch has sold out.
Sigh!

Does the report consider duck fat as an alternative fuel? Natural, sustainable, and the byproduct is a tasty lunch.

I suspect the report is a brain anasthetic ... that is to say you'll be asleep rather quickly

And so hard to spell ;-)

Rahmstorf and Schellnhuber...

(I have to admit I think of them as Drowner and Tippy, which is infantile of me).
