Dove or hawk? Doesn't matter!

Figure of ridicule, absolutely.

Well portrayed Josh

Cuckoo?

Mar 9, 2011 at 1:19 PM | Unregistered Commenterj ferguson

Josh:
I do not mean to criticize, but you have made Dr. Romm far too harmless and benign. How about a Pterodactyl chick from Jurassic Park III. That should capture his physiogamy, personality and overall unpleasantness.

Mar 9, 2011 at 1:20 PM | Unregistered Commenterbernie

Bernie, Is he unpleasant? He has great eyebrows. There is a link here

http://www.cartoonsbyjosh.com/

to the debate with Marc Morano - where I thought he came across more whingy than unpleasant, like life was unfair.

JF, I do like the Cuckoo idea...

Mar 9, 2011 at 1:27 PM | Unregistered CommenterJosh

To me, Romm looks like a vulture in that cartoon.

I agree with Bernie that Josh is often too soft on his subjects. He is still too much of a gentleman for this trade, IMHO. No killer instinct... yet!

Mar 9, 2011 at 1:39 PM | Unregistered CommentersHx

Romm frightens me, and I do not scare easily.

I think to be fair to Josh, we should remember that some very dangerous things look relatively harmless when young.

Mar 9, 2011 at 1:44 PM | Unregistered CommenterBBD

BBD,
Re: dangerous things looking harmless when young. Bravo. Manias, cults, too.

Josh, I think this is another cartoon with a lot to offer. I eagerly await the contributions of the local wits - in addition to those already heard from.

Mar 9, 2011 at 1:52 PM | Unregistered Commenterj ferguson

So Joe Romm is a guy with a good career behind him already, and numerous achievements and plaudits. Far more than anything associated with Bishop Hill. But you don't like what he's saying, so you draw cartoons about him and whine about him in the comments section underneath.

Very mature and scientific.

The greater the uncertainty, the greater the risk

Taking on board such advice on dealing with uncertainty would mean you wring the little squawker's neck.

Here ZDB you were being rather 'sceptical' the last time you posted.

I see the humourless fidei defensor is still posting.

If you spent more time here and less time at the D.M. taking on the uninformed then maybe you would know that Romm has been ripped apart here and all the other sceptic blogs.

While were are at it ZDB, care to show us the empirical proof that CO2 is causing the AGW and also where the hot-spot is? Have you read A.W.M.'s book yet? Hows the weather in Truro, hot or cold or flooding? Been waiting for so long for you to answer these questions!

Mar 9, 2011 at 2:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterPete H

Zed

How much time, exactly, have you spent at CA?

How much time, exactly, do you think should be given to Romm's poisonous and excitable rhetoric?

BH may not be perfect, but he doesn't post up bile like Romm. Ergo, he does less damage than Romm.

Conclusion - Zed's out of order. Again.

Mar 9, 2011 at 2:37 PM | Unregistered CommenterBBD

Soddit: I meant 'CP' of course...

Mar 9, 2011 at 2:38 PM | Unregistered CommenterBBD

Sorry to be pedantic, but "to early" should be "too early" in the legend for this brilliant cartoon.

Mar 9, 2011 at 2:45 PM | Unregistered CommenterMorley Sutter

Here you go Zed, "Sources confirm that a federal inspector has questioned Eugene Wahl and Wahl has confirmed that Mann asked him to delete emails. "

Want to deny the above?

Mar 9, 2011 at 2:49 PM | Unregistered CommenterPete H

Josh, You really must do a book on Warmist and Alarmist Birds. You already have several. It should be in the form of a birding guide book, with picture, description, calls it makes, and range. You might also consider the economic damage it has done.

Call it Josh's Guide to Warmist and Alarmist Birds

Mar 9, 2011 at 2:54 PM | Unregistered CommenterDon Pablo de la Sierra

Re my above suggestion. What does ZDB look like? :)

Mar 9, 2011 at 2:56 PM | Unregistered CommenterDon Pablo de la Sierra

Don Pablo, any such book should have a chapter warning about the danger to birds, particularly of the species you mention, of the great bird mincing machines being erected around the country (literally if you consider offshore farms). During their great migratory spring journeys to the coast for conferring with confreres they may be fried by reflected radar waves focused back to seaside conference venues by the large twirling blades. I'm sure I remember a scientific peer reviewed paper (Proceedings of the WWF? Research Letters of the Scarborough Sustainable Society?) which also discussed the impact on the environment of the burgeoning population of avian alarmists with its concomitant call for population reduction and management.

Mar 9, 2011 at 3:09 PM | Unregistered CommenterCumbrian Lad

Haven't heard from your keyboard for a while, Zed. You must be a very saintly person to ascribe any kind of goodness and peaceful intent to Joe Romm, whose blog fairly fizzes with the bile of his fury. I read it now and again to see what he is ranting about and his tone is always frightful and sulphurous. Josh has been far too nice in his depiction of Romm - I would have given him horns and a trident, at least.

How about a cartoon of Bishops Hill's resident troll :O)

ZDB

I see that philosophical beliefs now count as religion.

Mar 9, 2011 at 3:58 PM | Unregistered Commentersimpleseekeraftertruth

Yeah, ZDB, Romm's science is just impeccable, as in his promotion of the idea that CO2 is responsible for asthma:

http://climateprogress.org/2011/03/09/fred-uptons-bizarre-war-on-24-million-americans-with-asthma/

Joe Romm is a shill, pure and simple... well, simple, anyway

Does that mean one would need to declare CAGW on the census form?
Maybe Anti-CAGW would also qualify.

Mar 9, 2011 at 4:32 PM | Unregistered Commentermatthu

Morley. Oops, my bad. Will amend the cartoon spelling - it seeps in uninvited, cuckoo like, sigh.

Mar 9, 2011 at 4:36 PM | Unregistered CommenterJosh

Interesting, but not really surprising, ZDB that you consider a life spent advocating unworkable technology and spending public money to be a successful career. Reminds me of the B-Ark in Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy on which they sent away all the useless people.

Mar 9, 2011 at 4:51 PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid S

Cumbrian Lad

You make good suggestions regarding the nesting habitat of the WA birds, who, like the common cuckoo, let others build nests and then plant their eggs in the nest to let the unwitting others raise the next generation of cuckoos at no expense to the present generation.

I believe that the WA birds are fond of large tall structures with rotating arms that keep other species at a distance. Perhaps those are the great bird mincing machines you refer to?

"Does that mean one would need to declare CAGW on the census form?"

It will be interesting to see how it ranks against Jedi:)

Mar 9, 2011 at 5:10 PM | Unregistered Commentersimpleseekeraftertruth

@simpleseekeraftertruth

re: census and the Jedi religion.

It might well be that most of those who put 'Jedi' as their religion in census form are godless people who have a sense of humour. But since you've mentioned, I might well declare my religion as Catastrophic Anthropogenic Global Warming (CAGW) in the upcoming Aussie census. One only needs to be a convert on the census day.

Nice one Josh, made me grin.

The guy lets himself in for a lot of flac, but I kinda like the old buzzard. He's done nearly as much good for the sceptics cause by his ridiculous prancing and posturing as our super-hero, Rajendra K. Pachauri... :-))

Mar 9, 2011 at 6:22 PM | Unregistered CommenterTenuc

"So Joe Romm is a guy with a good career behind him.... " Note the operative word, "good career BEHIND him". No suggestion that he has much of a career ahead of him. The future is less bright but probably more lucrative.

I'll make a prediction. In 10 years time nothing will have changed and people will be yelling that we need to `act now' or by 2110 we will all be dead.

Josh
Could you stick a dragon tail to the Joe Romm climate chicken and put its head in a 'head-vise'?

You could also set its nest afloat in a sea of lava, with a bottle of 'high water' milk for it to suckle.

The chicken could wear a small amulet of 'snark'. Seems to like it very much.

ZBD,
You can post here, I cannot post at Climateprogress. You come here and abuse the Bishop. Can anyone go to Climateprogress and say anything about Joe Romm?

There you go, some differences for you.

Lighten up a little mate. Don't worry, be happy.
You need to relax more, come to think of it so does Mr Romm.

Mar 10, 2011 at 1:09 AM | Unregistered CommenterScott

Speaking of Martin Brumby's "Shite Hawks" reminds me of rock climbing on the Aberdeen sea cliffs 20 years ago. If you chose the wrong time of year to climb, an unfriendly and nest-protective gannet would have the tendency of appearing out of nowhere on a ledge, and spew a gut load of bile over you.
Often (assuming you remained intact) the bile was so strong that washing never got rid of the smell, and you'd have to throw your clothes away.

I wonder if Joe and his friends were once "shite hawks" on the Aberdeen cliffs in a former life.

Well the 'chicken littles' are squawking on the BBC. From WUWT thread on the Japanese earthquake:

While watching the BBC special coverage this morning I heard one of the announcers say that low lying islands in the Pacific were in danger from the tsunami “ever more so because of rising sea levels due to global warming.”

!!!ACK!!!

I saw that too. How utterly tasteless of the BBC in the wake of this tragedy. No acknowledgement that the islands might just possibly be sinking, rather than the sea rising.

[I also just heard it watching their reports.]
