The Black thread
Nov 2, 2011 Blogs
The Black thread seems to have gone. Not sure whether this is finger trouble at this end or a bug or something at the Squarespace end.
Will keep you posted.

Perhaps tutu and vuvu triggered some sort of crapola filter with their homophobic rants
Whatever you do, don't upset the nuns!
don't mess with my tutu lol
The biggest tragedy is it lets Zed off the hook citing me a reference |:)
And what was that 'comments closed' thing yesterday?

I suspect it was the Bishop's equivalent of throwing a bucket of cold water over us. Things were starting to get a little frenzied when I left last night!
The Black thread is coming and going, interspersed with your apology.
When it's there the comment page "can't be found".
Paranoid? Moi? :)
[Response to troll]
JJB, whereas Zed appears to have a modicum of interest in the subject area, tutu is a waste of space troll, and all those words and arguments are completely wasted, except as they are therapeutic for you to put them down.
You realise, if the Bish put a plastic cup on the floor, we'd start a discussion about it.
peleton
leader in a cycling race according to this:
http://www.merriam-webster.com/dictionary/peloton
and i must state for the record that i have never knowingly indulged in a cycle race either from the rear or from the front
Thanks James, you're absolutely right.
Zed, what's your take on the plastic cup?
Got to go, the peloton's about to pass me by..
How big is the plastic cup ? what colour ? Do you have any evidence that the cup ever really existed ?
As my pseudo suggests, I live in France and my French wife has just confirmed what I thought. Webster is talking rubbish: peleton is not the leader, it's the massed group of cyclists he probably broke away from. Other meanings: un peleton de laine is a hank of wool, - you also have le peleton d'éxécution or firing squad — probably the latter judging from the the gist of the comment above, although I've no idea what this is all about. Perhaps someone can enlighten me.

That would explain it - never seen that before but I am seeing more and more abuse of hospitality and from both sides.

I am no scientist as I freely admit but I thought blogs like this were places were I (and many others) could express an opinion and hopefully become better informed without finding myself in the middle of a live-fire exercise!
Being insulted by trolls or hectored by born-again warmists has started to get very wearing. That thread was getting so far off beam that more than half the postings (someone counted them) were not only off-topic but consisted of a "dialogue of the deaf"!
And as usual in that situation were generating more heat than light!
Addendum
I've just dropped into the 'Curry on BEST' thread. It looks as if it's going the same way!
simpleseeker - IMNSHO the real stupid are those (like me) falling in the trap of replying to the known information black holes, like zbd. IF ONLY WE WOULD STOP, threads would become meaningful again. For example IF YOU SEE THAT SOMEBODY HAS REPLIED ALREADY to one of those baseless claims, DON'T JOIN THE PARTY.
It's so simple, it makes one wonder who the spammers are.
Me too. I'm going to stop talking to Zed. I think the problem is that because most of us were once believers in AGW, and were converted to scepticism, I see every believer as a potential convert. And I think how cool it will be for that person to have that moment of epiphany I had. It's a bad habit, not everybody can be swayed by logic. I'll stop.
Perhaps the rants and bad language were contrary to squarespace terms and conditions, bish. It only takes one busybody to complain to the board admin. I may not have been the only one offended by vuvu's obscenities.
Mike
Has it ever occurred to you that you might be wrong?
I have never ceased to be amazed at how so many, knowing so little about so much can be so aggressively certain that they are right and that the entire expert community is wrong.
It's absolutely astonishing. It's also arrogant beyond belief.
Behold yourselves and pause.
@BBD: I've never really taken to you as a troll. In general, I have enjoyed what you write and how you write: I have learned from that. But, you write:
Well, yes, it has often occurred to me that I can be wrong, on this and many other things. I like to maintain a certain humility about my knowledge.
However, unlike you, I am frequently amazed at how much some people, given the opportunity, really know. The depth of their combined knowledge; the breadth of their combined experiences; the length of their combined experiences; and the lack of their arrogance. I do not think they are wrong. I do not think you, in much of what you say, are wrong (heck, you write some powerfully technical arguments that are difficult to gainsay). But I do think the overall conclusions that come from the sceptical argument base are ascendant.
And my reason for this? It is that thing called experience. In 1972, when the OU started an Ecology course they released a textbook called, 'The Limits To Growth' by the Club of Rome. I really signed up to that and thoroughly bought in to the whole darn shooting match. Time, that great teacher, has since changed my mind: it was a crock, much like the IPCC's Assessment Reports.
But when it comes to the crunch, given that warming has always happened (we can agree on that?), and knowing that it is happening again, I am forced to the conclusion: and? No amount of taxation will change that fact.
@BBD
"It's absolutely astonishing. It's also arrogant beyond belief." It also cuts both ways. (I don't have you in mind BTW). It is always worth imagining what we'd say if it turned out we were flat wrong. (OMG I didn't say that did I?; o ground, open up).
If you want to talk about something other than the topic of the thread there is a discussion forum.
Point taken, Your Grace. The lost (Black) post was promising and very interesting. Since it has been re-posted, the entire thread seems to have unravelled. Apologies.
[Take it to the discussion forum]
No, BBD. I'm absolutely right. It is most definitely wearing to be insulted by trolls and hectored by born-again warmists.
