Australian Climate sanity
The Australian Climate Madness site has a level-headed post on the meaning of the floods.
It's difficult for people who don't live in Queensland to understand the volumes of water we're talking about here. This is not some drizzling Victorian rain or misty English weather. This is a proper, tropical summer monsoon rainfall a bit further south than it normally is. The written history of Queensland is only about 200 years long, but it is peppered with tales of huge floods that astound new observers. People see the 1974 markers on buildings around Brisbane and think it can't possibly have happened. The puny infrastructure put in the way of these periodic deluges is nothing compared with the water volumes. It will happen again, at least once per lifetime of the average person. There's nothing that can be done. After all, it's just weather.

Someone tell Al Gore, will you..?
What a sensible comment by Bruce (are there really Aussies called Bruce?). My comment on the previous post about the statistics of floods applies. When will people go back to learning from history instead of believing computer models?

Plenty. When not called Bruce they're called Brett, or Kylie if it's a Sheila.
All been top guys in my experience, including the Sheila's.
Lots called Mike too, though they pronounce it "Moik".
Don't forget Wayne and Shane, mate.
Or on the distaff side, Renelle, Shenelle, Janelle, and Narelle.
My two sons were born in London while I was at QMC. When the first arrived, the Prof's secretary asked me what we called him. I said "Bruce". Her eyes dilated and her lips quivered but she finally managed to say, "that's a very nice name".
Then I laughed and she called me a bar*tard.
Too much MP guys.
This is getting confusing, let's stick with Bruce?
Of course they're all called Bruce. I thought it was common knowledge.

What no Randys? Very common name in US.
On the "Brice" topic: I wonder if the Vice Chancellor of the University of Queensland took any action to admonish his particular "Bruce"?
