The naked climatologist?

Now available for 2011, the University of East Anglia Naked Calendar.
Whether any residents of CRU have volunteered to appear is regrettably unclear. However, information on getting a copy here, although it looks like it may be unavailable except in person. Proceeds are for the St John Ambulance Society.

Too close to the water for CRU.
Which one is Phil Jones with a toupee?
If they turned around we'd be able to tell if it's cold or not {;o)
I guess one of them could be Briffa with his beard on back to front...
UEA has nothing on Spencer Tunick.
Warning to anyone from UEA viewing this: withering nudity on display.
I looked through the other photos from the same photographer. He is Andy R Kett, a 27 Year Old Male Nursing Student at the University of East Angia. His photos are rather good, I recommend you have a look. He shows more of the calendar on his Flickr account. They are all student volunteers raising money for a good cause.
It's a shame for all the other students that the good name of their university has been severely damaged by Jones and Acton.
Andy, if you read this, I suggest you find a way to sell these online. This blog will get quite a lot of publicity and it may get picked up by wattsupwiththat or similar.
oh dear........is this going to be a Daily Publication...you know, something to do with a stream and the sun and a***holes
Are any of them ZDB? With her or his "well-toned arse"?
Are we sure this is a calendar and not just four young ladies collecting sediment cores.
Happy New Year all.
The naked cheek. Very apt for UEA.
Which one is the Emperor?
Wow
Thank you so much for posting this!!
I couldn't honestly tell you if anyone from the CRU was in any of the pictures, but there where people from all walks of university life involved including two future doctors in the picture above. my coconspirator on this project Suzie Jones is responsible for sales but we couldn't find away to make them available online without taking money away from the charity. she is a 4th year medical student and neither of us had the time during this rather exam heavy period to run our own mail order system i'm ashamed to say we couldn't do everything.
If any of you are on twitter it would be good to follow you feel free to add me/drop me a message @AndyRKett
I also have my own blog which has some more information about the Calendar http://imagineanimage.blogspot.com/
Thanks again for raising awareness for us we really do appreciate it every little help and makes all those cold cold november naked photo sessions worth while for those that took part.
Unimpressive. There is an incredible amount of lens vignetting which can easily be corrected with Photoshop. And given the limited amount of fisheye and soft focus, it would appear it was taken with a Kodak disposable camera. Ten minutes with Photoshop would have vastly improved this "masterpiece."
"I gotta tell you guys, if this is the direction Establishment Climate Science is headed in..."
or
"Someone in Global Warming PR finally gets it!"
Andrew
We must resolve in the New Year to view things from all angles.
Don Pablo, I think actually that the vignette was deliberately introduced to the image. And, I might add, very poorly too.
It's an increasingly used technique, made popular by VT at the BBC's Top Gear programme, intended to make video look like film.
Gah.. I just noticed Andy's posted here. I feel a bit guilty about commenting on the introduction of the vignette.. but Andy.. honestly, mate, it's contrived.
What, no one's cracking jokes about the CRU yet?
Reminds me of a shoe repairer who used the following slogan.
"There are souls and soles but our soles are soles"
Hope this is not too offensive, in which case, please do not pass it.
AndyRKett
Good luck Andy to you and all concerned, especially the cold ones. St John's is a good cause so well done.
Suggest you put the squeeze on CRU as quickly as possible, at present they should be good for a sizeable contribution. Not sure about the future though... maybe warm, maybe..
Happy New Year and have fun!
PS, I will see if I can spread the word..
I don't think the shading is vignetting; it only appears in the top half of the photo and it looks to me like the sky shading you would expect when shooting towards the sun using a polarising filter, which people often use when photographing lakes. It's a good photo.
Re Shub
One poor model unfortunatly believed CRU's claims regarding sea level rises. As this image shows-
http://tinyurl.com/36bqs9s
she's still waiting for the water to come to her.
Re AndyRKett
Some nice pics on your Flikr site and good luck with the exams! One suggestion if you've got some spare cash though is to try using the FL-50 or 36's off-camera with the wireless mode. Stick them on some mini-tripods and it's a relatively cheap way to play with more light, and lot less hassle than lugging my Elinchrom kit + battery around :)
And now off to dream of my impending hangover
Which one is Canute?
cru-titti personified.
What the hell is wrong with this organisation ( CRU). Starting with science to calendar they have everything backward :-)
ohNeverMind, if you look at the two outside models, they are definitely "in the shade" of the vignetting which has resulted in a reduction of colour saturation on the outlying models. The vignetting is less obvious in the lower 1/3rd of the image, because of the texture of the sand, but it's definitely there. I've accentuated the effect that's been applied to the image here.
All of this is, of course, aside. On topic but on another side, I hope the calendar does well. I personally owe a huge debt of gratitude to the St John Ambulance who graciously carried me out of many a Deep Purple and Black Sabbath concert in my sordid youth. Best of luck with sales, Andy!
If nothing else, I learned that UEA has a Pole Dancing club
The Facebook page is here:

Seems very female-oriented.
I wonder if they take "Men in Tights"?
These UEA models are showing a considerable amount of cooling....
Happy New Year. Nanny cancelled so had to stay home and as a consequence I got no hangover and are feeling rather good this morning. I have even been for a run! Hmmmm, sorry guys but much as it pains me to be mean about my own sex (as Madeleine Albright says there is a special place in Hell for women who do not help other women) the main problem here is that this is simply not "top bottom". If this is really the best totty East Anglia can produce then hacking isn't the only problem they got. It also seems rather chauvinistic that it is only women. In fact I reckon we can do better. Bish, if you, Viv Evans and Latimer Adler are up for it then so am I!
H
You'd need a wide angle lens.
One might say "fitting" since it represents:
- the level of prosperity Brits will have if they continue done the carbon control path
- how UEA expects houses to be heated in winter (no house, no need for energy)
- how many are left after NHS has completed their programmes
Thanks all for skipping the Waldon's Pond comments.
So I said to the five girls, " If I purchase one calendar from each of you all, What's in it for me?".
"Sand and mud", they chorused together.
Always dreamed of lfe as a beach bum, but just couldn't compete with this.
Or couldn't catch them, one or the other! Well done...
Rump Parliament.
I knew the months I spent working my way through Macaulay would somehow pay off.
