News from the warehouse
Jan 19, 2010 Books
For everyone who is awaiting news of the availability of The Hockey Stick Illusion at Amazon, we expect them to show availability later this week.
Sorry to keep you all waiting.

Having going through several such "fire drills" with Amazon, my advice is for everyone to sit down, have a nice cuppa and let the gnomes working at Amazon have time to sort it out. They usually take a very negative first stance, and then gradually bring in the estimated shipping dates until suddenly it's in your mail box.
I recently ordered a Nikon SB 400 flash for a really good price from them. They said it would be two months before I got it. Then a month. Then yesterday, they said next week. Today I have the UPS shipping number.
All good things, including the Bishop's Magnum Opus, will occur in time.
I'll quite happily wait - looking forward to some new bedtime reading after finishing Plimer's book.
And that DOES make you sleep...
Hurray! My copy arrived today! (Ordered from Stacey International, not Amazon). I've only flicked through it, but I'd make two comments on what I've seen so far. Firstly, the story really shows up how much work Steve McIntyre and his colleagues have done. It's incredible really. Secondly your own contribution Bishop, there's a huge amount of work gone into this documentation of one of the most important pieces of public policy related science. I'm sure that this, together with Mosher and Fullers 'Climategate' will be the definitive story of an amazing episode in history.
Well that's my bedtime reading for the next week sorted out.
Dispatched as of two minutes ago! Looking forward to it.
I got my "dispatched" email from amazon today as well. As has been said, they are sometimes a bit pessimistic in their delivery forecasts.
My confirmed came this morning 22nd.
Alright for some! My order is still showing as outstanding on the Amazon.co.uk website, with an expected dispatch date of 9 Feb.
I ordered on 11 Jan, so maybe they are processing on a "first in, first out" basis and simply haven't got round to me. Did you guys order months ago?
Still, if the publisher is organised and this means that the book is selling like hot cakes (anthroprogenically heated, no doubt!), that would be a good silver lining.
Steven
The book was announced on 21 November, so there are a lot of orders predating yours. I'm slightly surprised that Amazon can't get them all shipped at once though. Of the affiliates orders (which are all that I can track), they have managed to ship roughly 10% so far. This may be that they are doing the earlier orders (which predated me joining the affiliates) first.
I ordered mine from the publisher quite late on, around the 12th Jan. I received it midweek this week. Wherever the bottleneck is, it seems to be at Amazon, or elsewhere in the distribution chain, not with the publisher.
It's well worth the wait though - It's a rivetting story!
Update on my order from Amazon-
A W Montford "The Hockey Stick Illusion;Climategate and the Corruption of Science (Independent Minds)"
Previous estimated arrival date: February 16 2010 - March 01 2010
New estimated arrival date: February 04 2010
Think I ordered my copy(s) around the same time as Cumbrian Lad
Just a quick update on my order, placed 11 Jan. I've now got a "your order has been dispatched" e-mail from Amazon, so it seems that they have caught up with most of the backlog.
Yep,
Got an email today saying mine has been dispatched via An Phost.
No doubt it will appear in my dual purpose dog kennel / oversize mail box soon.
