Perhaps the Met Office should put its money (what's left of it) where its mouth is and place a few bets on its forecasting ability. I gather that Piers Corbyn made a few bob doing this against the MO, but has now been barred by William Hill for being too successful. Apparently, PC forecast the current Hurricane Andres off Mexico over three weeks ago...

Very apropos. Have you noted the little stir across the pond at Anthony Watts' site? Seems the Evironmental Protection Agency was caught suppressing evidence... http://wattsupwiththat.com/

As you are quoteing those who say what they do not do I have saved this from Al:
"The debate over the climate crisis should not be partisan, it should not be ideological, and it shouldn’t be dominated by who can win the next news cycle. This is a moral issue and one that requires serious debate. That requires its participants to know the facts."

This was a couple of months ago but my reaction was the same as yours to gavins comment. BTW I am just glad I was not eating or drinking when I read G's comment.

I'm noticing many times that a known or suspected fraudster or AGW supporter will say a wonderful principle... then promptly say or do something that completely undermines it... and accuse the other side of this fault... "Don't look at me!! Look at UUU!!! funded by XXX!!!!"

Heck, it was because Al Gore mentioned so many good principles that I once believed him.
