The trougher-in-chief



So John Bercow is the new speaker. The man who is going to restore our faith in the ancient and venerable institution of Parliament.
The man who had the largest additional costs allowance claims in parliament in pretty much every year since he was elected.
They just don't get it, do they?

He even had the temerity to then make a speech in which he said: "I continue to believe the vast majority of Members of this House are upright, decent, honourable people...", when if you had read the supplement in the Telegraph on Sunday you would perhaps be likely to have formed a somewhat different view.
Is it right that the speakers seat is not contested in an election? Given his own claims history he may have just managed to dodge one bullet at least.
