Sonia B-C on Marr

Sonia Boehmer-Christiansen, one of the most doughty fighters against the global warming movement, has written a complaint about Andrew Marr's performance in a programme on global warming broadcast on BBC radio the other day.

There are some fascinating snippets of which I would love to know the details. For example:

  • the BBC having a financial interest in the advancement of the global warming agenda
  • ditto the Royal Society
  • the IPCC is not allowed to assess the "for and against" of global warming since it is signed up to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change which states that global warming is real and dangerous

Read the whole thing.

I think that the programme referred to was not presented by Andrew Marr, but by Ed Stourton (Tuesday 9:00am Radio 4). Also neither he nor Marr is a BBC political correspondent. A pity to get these critical details completely wrong in making a complaint. Lessens the impact of the other points considerably.

jpkatlarge: I think you will find the letter of complaint does not mention Andrew Marr. The SPPI blog mentions Andrew Marr and that is what the good Bishop has erroneously repeated here.

Oh, this was actually the Stourton programme was it? Interesting.

My dear Bishop, simply to thank you for your efforts and wish you a good Christmas.

I was through Milnathort a few days ago and saw you had a few inches of Global Warming and a dank mist. You probably had more warming two nights ago, but I hope that fog cleared.

Slainte!

Royal Society Enterprise Fund announces first investment

Published Date: 06 August 2009

The Royal Society Enterprise Fund today confirmed that it has completed its first investment. Novacem, a start-up company developing green cement systems, has raised more than £1 million equity from a syndicate comprising The Royal Society Enterprise Fund, Imperial Innovations Group plc and the London Technology Fund.

Novacem is developing a new generation of carbon negative cement systems, based on research from the top rated Civil and Environmental Engineering Department at Imperial College London. The annual production of over 2.5 billion tonnes of Portland cement is already responsible for 5% of global CO2 emissions, and cement volumes are expected to double by 2050.
