Unthreaded

If anyone queries the party line at pro-AGW blogs, including the Guardian, their comments will be censored/deleted, and therefore the illusion of Consensus is maintained.

When EM et al spout their normal rubbish here, and get queried about it, whether politely or not so politely, they play the victim card, and hide behind the Consensus view. Climate science can not answer basic questions without resorting to 'Trust me, I am a Climate Scientist', whilst failing to note the complete abuse of trust demonstrated by Climate Science.

These are the same tactics highlighted by many for 20+ years, and summarised by Andrew Montford in the Hockey Stick Illusion, that have pervaded the politicised world of academic climate science.

As climate science has clearly demonstrated it's contempt for science, it should be allowed to return to the quiet obscurity of academia, where it was nurtured for years by dedicated professionals like Hubert Lamb.

I learned to adore, and care for the natural world as a child 40+ years ago. We are now stuck with a bunch of 'Environmentalists' that are confident that milk comes from bulls, but unsure about which end.

Radical Rodent,
Being accused of a Gish Gallop is a good ploy previously executed by EM at least a couple of times. Put up a single link to multiple arguments (10 in your case) which when answered individually is a Gish Gallop not worthy of his attention I always assumed that he has no answer to the points raised.

Alan Kendall,
hopefully you'll keep commenting here, even if you feel you've been trolled on occasion. It is unfortunate that, as Michael Hart says, there has been a prolonged absence by the Bishop.

Michael Hart. Since there would appear to be no sensible and acceptible reaction from BH management or from contributors here, this particular little adrenal gland is going to shut down.

For those who think its an unthreaded problem, think again, EM was trolled on a discussion thread, whereas I was trolled on a blog thread. The canker infects everywhere.

Climate Science has always stated it is about science not politics.

EM has just confirmed it is not about science, but politics, depending on gullible politicians.

M Courtney and Alan Kendall represent the 3% of Guardian readers who do not (fully?) accept the 97% Consensus fabricated by the political advocates sucking on the taxpayer's teat, and they both continue to offer unique, and valuable insights into some issues, that few of us understand or have access to.

97% of climate scientists, plus 100% of their hanger's-on, must be worried that the era of flying away to exotic locations at tax-payers expense for freebie wining and dining, may be at en end.

Australian Climate Science budget cuts.

Any news on whether Green Blob blogs are feeling threatened Down Under? Their paid shills around the world must be facjng the cold chill of austerity.

US Climate Science budget cuts are not eagerly awaited, but are probable whatever the election result, and could be devastating.

If EM wants to talk about lack of scientific proof being no substitute for political gullibility, there could be Unprecedented developments before the year is out.

Entropic man: the “gish gallop” (whatever that may be) to which you refer is presumably my response to your link to what is required to falsify AGW. I was merely trying to answer each of the points that you seemed to be quite happy to offer as a valid response to my question. Why is my response a “gish gallop” and the site you linked to not? (I presume you actually have read that article?)

One thing to note about the Arctic sea ice is that the “death spiral” of the Arctic is not as bad as claimed; see the .pdf page 61 of this NASA document to see that 1979, from which so much of this is measured, was actually a year when its extent was unusually high. How curious. The 2016 extent is not much lower than that of 1974.

Unless the Bish decides otherwise, I shall continue to offer comments in a rational debate, whatever you might wish. While you may consider that I have nothing to offer, I take part as I know I do have much to learn, and this is a good way to educate myself.

"He has said that political acceptance of a scientific theory makes those who disagree irrelevant. "

And he's not wrong. We are irrelevant... but so is government acceptance. There are no magic soltutions for reducing CO2. So they'll fritter money on white elephants as the energy infrastructure crumbles. Eventually someone will notice we've run out of money and propose that we stop spending on crap. By that time everyone will have decided that we can afford to wait and see what climate does. The big question is - will it happen before or after the Guardian goes bust?

Calm down everyone.
This is a pretty much unmoderated and uncensored forum about cAGW related issues. That's going to be rough.
But it's going to be open and innovative.

If you want to hear the approved ideas go to the Guardian or Fox News.
This is an argument about how to argue. Meta is not better.

Look, Entropic man has raised a real issue.
He has said that political acceptance of a scientific theory makes those who disagree irrelevant. That's us Sceptics.
As real science costs money to perform tests - and that money comes from the State - he has a valid point.

Discuss.

The Bish is off doing stuff more interesting than moderating squabbling between people who give as good as they get.

I have been beginning to think that the absence of the captain on the bridge may be starting to affect the blog. I certainly hope all is well with him in his personal life. If he is too busy, then it is a shame that none of this alleged dark oil money can spare a pittance to help him out with some paid support staff.

Occasional Josh cartoons are not sufficient to keep the oxygenated-blood flowing, even with EM and AK trying to inject some adrenaline.

Your last comment shows clearly why you do not deserve to be part of a rational debate. I will not bother to refute your entire Gish Gallop, life's too short.

Let one stand for all.

strong evidence that the Arctic ice is starting to increase.

This is the current Arctic sea ice extent , the lowest in the satellite record. The 2016 maximum extent was also the smallest on record.

I look forward to your rational, evidence based argument that Arctic sea ice is increasing.
