osseo, I read it as 'quick, the fictional scare stories we came up with before aren't working - we need bigger more ludicrous ones'.

Interesting article in this week's 'Nature' - http://www.nature.com/news/the-maximum-climate-ambition-needs-a-firm-research-backing-1.20687

I read this as saying (like the 'Daily Beast' in Evelyn Waugh's 'Scoop'): "Cable victories". ""Remember that the Patriots are in the right and are going to win. ...That is the Beast policy for war."

DHL are big in retail logistics, running quite few major retailers fleets although you wouldn't know it when passing the lorries on the motorway.

The UK has been warned
http://www.breitbart.com/london/2016/09/28/ill-wind-australias-greenest-state-blacked-out-by-power-cuts/

The entire state of South Australia was blacked out by power cuts last night sending 1.67 million householders back to the dark ages. This comes just days after a report called Keeping The Lights On warned that black outs might be a consequence of the state’s radical green energy policies.

Barry Gardiner has previous... - I tend to think we're looking at chronic stupidity there rather than ignorance which can be cured....

I think Labour have about the same number of stupid people in ranks as the other parties - but the present crew seem to have a real talent for collecting them together and getting them to deliver profoundly uninformed and concentrated stupidity - sometimes several times in the same day.

Stewgreen: I watched the Gardiner interview with Brillo and just could not believe that someone like him was claiming to want to govern our power supplies. I'd rather have Entropic Man!
Gardiner reminded me so much of the nay-sayers we would encounter in the computer company I worked in when we were trying to set the design for a new system. They would say things like: 'There's a new widget/chip/gizmo coming out in a year's time and we should delay our design until then' And of course, if they had had their way we would have had them say the same thing 12 months later.

But Gardiner was meaning something else, which Brillo failed to pick up on: Gardiner was pushing the point the the blob (Cambridge, in this case) has said that the world will need to remove F-F systems within 15 years if the planet is to survive the warming tipping point that is coming. Gardiner is fully signed-up to the idea that the world will be running on clean electricity by then so there will be no need for gas power. All we shall need are unicorn horn grindings and rocking-horse droppings to make the power the new world will need for all those lovely electric cars etc.

The man is an ignorant pillock - but very dangerous, all the more so because he doesn't know he is being manipulated. I despair.

Stewgreen. 1) shale gas wells do crapout faster than conventional gas wells, but can be restimulated by refracking,
2) UK North Sea oil and gas production did actually rise last year. The Dork mentioned this recently and I didn't believe him, so I checked it out.

German Gov businesses show their contempt for Brexit ..by investing another £242.7m in the UK.
...German postal firm Deutsche Post has agreed a deal to buy UK Mail

Interesting. I don't know enough about the sector, but Deutsche Post own DHL. Buying UK Mail may not be good for consumers. I hope the CMA do some analysis and call it in if necessary.

TinyCO2. No sorry, much too clever for me. Never considered a typo.
