I viewed "Arctic Live" on BBC Last night to say it was a shameless propaganda exercise full of lies and half truths is an understatement. As part of the programme they read out 3 email questions from viewers none of which questioned the validity of their data. Paul Homewood has a good comment.

it's on again tonight and tomorrow.

In a digital age the (biblical) saying "be sure your sins will find you out" is truer than ever, as HRC has rediscovered this week.

I agree about Nancy Reagan, there were probably others in the past as well.

OED Xenophobia = Dislike of or prejudice against people from other countries.

Not sure that it applies to people from other countries once they are in yours, but is Xenophobia the same as having a low opinion of immigrants, legal or not, and disliking the fact they are "taking our jobs" or resenting a high street full foreign shops when you get a home delivery from ASDA* and buy your clothes online from ASOS*? It's a very messy thing to unravel.

Seems the EU has realised that Unreliables are not reliable. This is a shock for The Guardian, as they believe what experts from Skeptical Science tell them to believe.

@stewgreen

.....There is a scurrilous rumour that, at the EU Council of Ministers which agreed the 2020 renewable energy targets, Tony
Blair confused 20% of the UK’s electricity being provided by renewables – which he was briefed to support – with 20% ofthe UK’s energy being produced by renewables – which was what he signed-up for

Those two words show how Professor Roger Kemp will lie to promote his belief.

The Blair error is not a scurrilous rumour, it has been widely reported on, investigated and proved to be fact. In general Blair did not care about details, headlines and soundbites were all that mattered.

Thus you seem to believe that (for example) a Trump presidency will not be a disaster. Whereas others believe on the basis of a lack of political experience and his thin-skinned behaviour that he might be a disaster.

imho Mr Trump's lack of political experience is a positive as he will not enter White House with a coterie of sycophants. Instead, he will do what most businessmen do: hire the best for any area he requires assistance on.

As I have already explained, I have no particular axe to grind since I am completely unable to influence the outcome.

Playing the victim again ACK.

You can influence the election by posting your beliefs which may be picked up and reposted/tweeted elsewhere as you are "a respected academic" - although "hypocrite, shallow, sheltered, naive and unquestioning" would be my description.

SandyS, I am not really sure what was going on behind the scenes of the White House in President Reagan's final few years. I do remember a sketch on "Not the Nine O'Clock News" making fun of his forgetfulness, but at the time, did not attach any significance. In hindsight, I also recall his doting wife Nancy, always close by his side. She was clearly a greater support to the Reagan Presidency than publicly credited.

If an unelected Presidential Cabinet was making the decisions for an ailing President, it worked well before. Whether that would work in the digital age, with confidential information bypassing close advisers and "Secure Systems", no one yet knows.

@Harry there was a double error it was Electricity vs Energy as well
Blair confused
20% of the UK’s ELECTRICITY being PROVIDED by renewables
– which he was briefed to support
– with
20% of the UK’s ENERGY being PRODUCED by renewables
– which was what he signed-up for
