Northwest Passage : Someone mentioned website listing
So I looked at the PDF fileNortwest Territories state_of_environment_highlights_2016.pdf
strange that a 2016 report only mentions 30 passages in 2012 but does not list later years
Searching for further NordReg lists yields nothing

So Paul H has a page
https://notalotofpeopleknowthat.wordpress.com/2016/09/16/a-list-of-the-full-transits-of-the-northwest-passage/
where a link in the comments leads to
http://www.americanpolar.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/10/NWP-2015.pdf
giving a list until 2015-16

2014-15 seems 12
2015-16 seems 13 +1
......................................................

Crossing above Russia has another list the Northern Sea Route.
http://www.arctic-lio.com/nsr_transits
" the official record of transits through the North West Passage is kept at the Scott Polar Research Institute."

opening up the individual pdfs leads to
2015 - 18
2016 -19
about a third mention I/b assistance (icebreaker)
but the class of ships hull shows some are icebreaker class themselves

@Pcar
Jesus the BBC has £3.5bn worth of resources
Makes the cardinal sin of reporting a paper early before it's been fully verified
and then when it's retracted ..can't get round to adding a retraction note to its original story.

Li ion car batteries , recycling... pffft! what planet are they on? - ex car batteries sell at quite a nice price at the moment - just check eBay out....

Pcar
the BBC are simply so far up their own rear ends ... Heard some irony on Radio 4 "pm" this afternoon driving around - the BBC taking the Spanish press / MSM to task for misrepresenting the Catalonia business and then there was also several dollops of sanctimonious hogwash about not reporting enough climate change ... with some phoned in stuff from folk that simply must be on the fast dial NGO braying eco-pundit list

Advert on Quest where in a Dragon's Den type situation a black man and a sikh pitch us a business solution of recycling lithium ion car batteries as home energy battteries

Winchester claims to have reduced
Winchester carbon emissions fell 2005-2015 - just. Latest report to Low Carbon Board

Let's think
Increases
- population would have gone up ..more people buying more stuff
- Biocrops up, but they kid themselves this a zero net
- more flights
- more stuff from abroad
- decrease in farmland
Decreases
- more insulation ?
- better cars, but people drive further these days
... I've got solar and wind down as an increase in short term CO2 , cos you are front loading the CO2 output into the construction stage ..and then later on you've got decommisioning CO2

DECC goonery didn't go away ....

They merely took the sign off the building and replaced it with BIES - to find the assortment of mendacious NGO green shits sucking public funds you now have to consult the "departures board" style office signage inside by the reception counter. I didn't see any redundancies ...

Anybody seeking to contact them merely has another layer of officialdom to wade through. I notice that the output from the team has gotten a bit more like proclamations from on high ... but that might merely be my jaundiced + cynical interpretation.

R4 now : The Apocalypse Hasn't Happened Yet
Andrew Sullivan says Donald Trump is teaching a generation that the key to advancement in society is to bully, lie, slander and cheat.
.. "his appalling conduct will mark a cautionary tale - and future candidates and presidents will learn not to follow in his steps".

However fast your diesel car might depreciate it's got nothing on an electric car

http://www.dailymail.co.uk/money/cars/article-4943684/The-10-fastest-depreciating-new-cars-revealed.html

Cheat - you plagiarised the post I was about to post ;)

Depreciation (effectively) as soon as you drive it out of showroom:
Nissan Leaf 72%
Renault Zoe 76%

Claim "8m tonnes if plastic reach the oceans each year"
Elsewhere a claim "There's /will be more plastic than fish in the ocean"

Wikipedia gives the total biomass of just fish (not including krill/plankton etc) as 800-2,000m tonnes"
ie with no degradation it would take 100 to 250 years for plastic to outweigh fish.
