I expect they arrive in non-recyclable plastic wrappings.

How about this, we donate £200/year to youth charities, but depending on how much local stabbing and littering there is we set aside a portion to burn ?
This country doesn't have a litter problem, it has a lout problem.
I know abroad that beach clean ups are a waste of time, but I've given up village litter picks no as well
cos the same yobs just fill the verges within weeks
Whereas as everyone else knows the rule "You tick your litter home with you"
and after I discussed that with our local litter picker, 2 miles away I suddenly came across a big sign saying that

re:councils + celebs
One thing that isn't unusual at council run events is a VIP area with rented in marquee, posh chairs + tables and a spread from Waitrose or M&S - if nothing else it's an indicator of a level of self regard that many might find unacceptable.

BBC seems to say killing yourself will improve the world

People think the world is getting worse ..everything is not fine as long as there are plane crashes, preventable child care deaths, Climate Change deniers, journalists in prison, girls not getting an education cos of their gender

"Town halls spend over £1m on celebrities while cutting
"Nearly 100 councils spent hundreds of thousands of pounds on engaging celebrities including Darcey Bussell and Craig Revel-Horwood, two judges on the BBC's Strictly Come Dancing as well as BBC Radio 4's Gardeners Question Time judge Bob Flowerdew and survival TV star Ray Mears over the past four years."

Choreographed demonstrations supporting vegetable rights, whilst surviving on a mere £100k + p.a?

"Enough to make you sick! Health chiefs put flying lessons, go-karting, five-star hotels and even McDonald’s trips on credit cards... and YOU pay the £5.8million bill"

I am sure that NHS Chiefs will claim expenses were to benefit air ambulance response times to Road Traffic Accidents, bed management and food efficiency..

Pcar, here are 2 more for you:

Gov't waste & lunacy - two examples
The Play Streets scheme was launched on Saturday in Newcastle upon Tyne in a bid to improve children’s health and tackle obesity. But...
Marshals must be stationed at every entry point, with road signs and cones provided by the council put up at specified locations.
Organisers must also carry out a risk assessment and are advised to obtain public liability insurance of at least £5million. And every road closure must be advertised in the local press and on the street.
The Play Streets scheme is intended for quiet residential areas rather than routes with public transport. It will run until October before being reviewed.
BOGOF: the child obesity amongst "the poor" who allegedly can't afford to feed their starving children And H&S insanity.

Wave energy project built with £42million of taxpayers' money has yet to produce Any electricity despite already running for eight years
Wave Hub, an undersea electrical socket installed to test wave energy machines off Cornwall has hosted just one device since 2010.
But it was not connected to the shore and one of the project's two remaining potential customers has now pulled out.
Wave Hub said it was 'disappointed' that energy firm Carnegie had decided to test its device in Australia.
Carnegie - an Australian company - was given £9.6m from the European Regional Development Fund to test its device.
Wave Hub, based at Hayle in west Cornwall, said the wave energy business was 'unfortunately taking longer to develop' than anticipated so it was 'diversifying' and exploring options for testing floating wind turbines.
How about diversifying and exploring options by closing and all employees work for profitable companies.
As usual no "official" punished for incompetence and waste of taxpayers' money.

I like the North American park signs that said - " leave nothing but footprints, take nothing but memories".
