The "Independent" deserves to cease existing imho and is little more than a zombie.
That said - it is the United Nations that is proclaiming I think that the spending on renewables an the scale claimed is somehow virtuous - when in truth it is imho quite the opposite. Heat pumps and combined heat and power maybe - but solar and windmills ... meh......
This proclamation is the output of a bureaucracy employing hundreds of people (on rather fat retainers) promoting eco-totems for the most part and redistribution of wealth for the rest.

Neanderthal Climate Scientists are still mourning the loss of Doggerland Golf Courses, that did so much for European unity.
Doggerland would have appealed to Pachauri's more primitive instincts, and he may have proved quite handy in the rough.

"Too much glacial rebound" would be a great excuse for golfers missing a shot. It is a wonder that British Rail never thought of it for missing timetable deadlines.
