Academics Find ‘Climate Change’ Not Responsible for Displacement, Conflict in Africa

Academics at University College London (UCL) have said there is little basis to justify terms like ‘climate refugee’ after finding that the majority of conflict in Africa and forced migration has been as a result of rapid population growth.
...
“Terms such as climate migrants and climate wars have increasingly been used to describe displacement and conflict, however these terms imply that climate change is the main cause,”

Then the but [but I want more taxpayer funding]

“Our research suggests that socio-political factors are the primary cause while climate change is a threat multiplier,”

Another on message Global Warming leech paid by taxpayer extortion.

re: Rudd + Windrush.

Some years ago a colleague made a traveler acquaintance of a British government minister on a working visit to Korea. As related by the guy it was a real eye opener as to the real job of a minister.

Even the cleverest person with extraordinary mental capacity can be swamped by the job. The trick supposedly is to be well briefed - as in your team does the research, x-checks and formulate an approach to an issue, mindful of extant policy and plank traps...

Given the procession of howlers from just the FCO I'd judge that we have a surfeit of fools and a heavy sprinkling of knaves in the upper reaches of the civil service at present. That's if the present crew of elected fools and knaves were any good at actually picking a competent and loyal team.

That doesn't bode well in most areas....

I caught some telling phrases on Radio 4 - I don't recall who said it but I do recall what was said - "We were given targets" and "the staff were instructed to go after low hanging fruit " - imho that sounds eerily like pumping smuggling numbers by seizing legitimately purchased stuff off coachloads of pensioners at the Channel Tunnel or planeloads of retirees arriving from Spain at Gatwick .

+1

Rudd's skills: scowling, always angry, insulting others, inability to be happy or smile, state knows best

She's in the wrong party.

Well done. Lateral thinking, ingenuity & don't panic works.

On, beer

Car developed poor running&stalling at low revs on drive to ferry to NI, then Belfast. Once there and good nights sleep I investigated - rubber hose from intake manifold to fuel pressure regulator was leaking. Obtained some plastic beer pipe from local pub. Problem fixed.

Pcar: destruction of landing cards? Scandal breaking now? Deep State? Then add the cerebral-challenged Rudd....

Totally agree, Stew.
There must have been thousands of Windrush landings over the years. I wonder what the percentage of 'failure to naturalise' is among that number. This is a concocted 'scandal' with a few hundred unfortunate victims who were caught out by the 'hostile' vetting initiated by Blair/Brown's government. Those victims will be well compensated but I bet there will be a few 'grenfell-types' joining that band-wagon.

...Mercedes Sprinter and Ford Transit vans are notorious for using thin, poor quality steel inadequately painted...

As did Rover in 1980s & early 90s - roof of my 820 rusted as did roof of neighbour's daughter's Metro/100.

"inadequately painted" - yes, very common on most makes. All non-visible areas white primer only.

I once bought four cans of beer after a breakdown in a friends car. The beers were consumed later, but what I was after was the plastic that held the cans together, to tie and separate the HT leads which were loose and had chafed, causing erratic running.
