For solar powered greed:

https://wattsupwiththat.com/2018/04/04/the-road-to-hell-is-paved-with-solar-panels/

"Back in 2014, Anthony Watts pointed out an upcoming project called “Solar Roadways”. This was a project to put solar panels on roads. Hey, what’s not to like? Plenty of roadway space, put it to double use, we get free energy from the sun, right?

"Well, as Anthony presciently commented at the time …"

"All in all, it’s a colossal green tech train wreck, but these clowns may be laughing all the way to the bank, or they may be shysters, either way, there’s a sucker born every minute."

Worst Headline Today Award goes to

News homepage:

Finally! Spring arrives as warm weather hits Britain with temperatures hitting 59F today but rivers are still running high with 203 flood warnings and alerts still in place across country

As I read that this morning, snow was falling - about 5 inches now and still snowing.

I wonder what the calorific value of the Belgian political class is?

Low - they are damp rags (H/T Nigel)

So the Oak Foundation give money to the ECF and ECIU, while the ECF also gives money to the ECIU. From the Oak Foundation's 2017 annual report:

"In 137 years of record-keeping, 2016
was the warmest year ever known. In
Antarctica, the breakaway of a gigantic
iceberg – the world’s largest – was a
reminder of both the speed and the
magnitude of the changes in the Earth’s
climate. In addition, CO2 concentrations
in the atmosphere are also directly
impacting the pH levels of ocean water
and changing ocean chemistry at an
unprecedented rate, putting marine
life at risk. While it would be easy to
be discouraged by such news, our
team instead finds them a source of
inspiration. It strengthens our resolve."

Enough said. A shame, as they do seem to fund some worthwhile causes as well.

Why not scrap the subsidies for Unreliable energy? They have not achieved anything, apart from rewarding incompetence by the greedy, who have no incentive to improve their competence.

https://order-order.com/2018/04/04/argentina-abandons-energy-price-cap-britain-imposes-one/
"The government is moving closer to imposing a new energy price cap meant to benefit middle income households (a price cap for low income households already exists). The Domestic Gas and Electricity (Tariff Cap) Bill is likely to be made law this summer. A new cap could be in operation by this winter. The law will require Ofgem to impose the cap on standard variable tariffs which will affect about 11 million contracts. The government claims the cap will save households up to £100 a year (or £8 a month)…"

Thank you, I will go and have a look.

If, ten years ago, the EU had pooled its money, technical and engineering expertise, they/we would not be dependent on importing fossil fuels from Russia

German addiction to Green and Energiewinde has cost more lives than Nuclear Power, and probably Nuclear Weapons, including Hiroshima and Nagasaki.

https://en.m.wikipedia.org/wiki/European_Climate_Foundation#/issues

European Climate Foundation

The  is an international organisation whose aims are to promote climate and energy policies that it says would greatly reduce Europe's greenhouse gas emissions and to help Europe play a stronger international leadership role in mitigating climate change. According to the group, key elements of a sustainable energy future include:

●A substantial increase in energy efficiency. FAIL, unless zero energy is produced FREE.

●A successful transition from conventional to renewable energy. FAILURE GUARANTEED.

●Maintenance of the earth’s ecological systems and the life-supporting services they provide. Equitable distribution of energy services to different segments of the population, both internationally and within nations. FAILURE OF CLIMATE SCIENCE POLITICS.

The European Climate Foundation is funded by the Nationale Postcode Loterij, The Arcadia Fund, The Children's Investment Fund Foundation, The ClimateWorks Foundation, The McCall MacBain Foundation, Oak Foundation, The Stordalen Foundation and The William and Flora Hewlett Foundation.

gc, lobbying, and vested interests, are everywhere. Continuing with the COP 23 thread, I've just been looking at the Canadian Nuclear Association, since they sent 6 delegates to Bonn. Their website leads with an attack on energiewende:

https://cna.ca/news/france-sees-germanys-nuclear-shutdown-cautionary-tale-2/

FRANCE SEES GERMANY’S NUCLEAR SHUTDOWN AS A CAUTIONARY TALE

It's worth a read.

One of their delegates to COP 23 was Rauli Partanen. He wrote this piece:

"German Energiewende Turned Into a Dead End"

http://www.theenergycollective.com/raulipartanen/2418062/german-energiewende-turned-dead-end

Also worth a read, and I agree with much of it. But they're all lobbying for their own interests, it seems to me. Never forget - follow the money!
