7pm BBC1 Towniefile :
\\Helen Skelton visits a farm in York to hear how the extreme weather has brought about a carrot CRISIS,
leading to the lowest yields for decades and the highest levels of imports//

CRISIS ? We were selling carrots every Thursday at the market at 50p/bag , 70p fresh bunch
we could jack up the price and the customers wouldn't be bothered
..I have got some pre chopped shop bought carrots I picked off the COOPs bargain shelf for 20p last week
..I'll probably throw half of them in the compost.

So while I am sat in front of the the panel of "science journalism guys "from Guardianland
whose arms are fold cos "people just won't believe..and Trump's lot are the ones putting out fake news"
..everyone else is watching video of The Weather Channel and CNN .*FAKING * stuff

Well TV land always has been fake.. Enhanced Reality

I am getting to the stage that I'm beginning to wonder if Big Oil hasn't put in some undercover mad greens/libs

... More and more of the public seem to be "woke" ie they are away that Guardianland is full of people giving themself permission to fake stuff ..to "enhance reality" etc.

Tiny. I know the type. "She who must be listened to " and I have a name for such - "obituary people" , those with wonderful lives who seemingly excel in everything, who are so important or loved that their obituaries are already written (just in case).

She's sickening. A captain of industry and can make outstanding cakes, clothes and jam too. Worse, she's really, really nice.

Tiny. Showing off now. Boasting of having a sister who has cake forks out in the morning before 11am.

Worth listening to is John Finnemore's - accidentally hearing a bit of the Archers - sketches.

Ross. I disagree. I am forced to overhear parts of the Archers omnibus edition as "she who must be listened to" insists upon hearing it (loudly). They have a rural advisor/editor and still use it as a vehicle to introduce rural and other issues. Most successfully in recent years was the issue of over-controlling husbands, land contamination and, currently, rural drugs. Mostly, however, it's a soap, but then it always was.

You're ok AK, I only listen to it at my sister's. Her husband is the Archers fan and they have R4 on all day. There was one particularly stressful Woman's Hour where the topic was the history of women in dentistry and I threatened to stab myself to death with a cake fork if they didn't turn it off. My taste is I'm sorry I Haven't a Clue, Old Harry's Game and The Castle.

Tiny. I note with great interest and some concern your great knowledge of Ambridge folks and their foibles. Our former respect has just hit rock bottom. It can only get worse if you display familiarity with Eastenders or, God forbid, Corrie.

The Archers served a useful purpose just after the war disseminating good practice whilst the country was getting back on it's feet. Now it is just another soap opera. My mother used to work on the farm with a gang of women and I used to ride on the cart horse and light the fire for the tea break some of my happiest memories.
