As a car passenger yesterday i heard an interesting piece on Jeremy Vine's Radio2 show. In our family the driver chooses music/radio station. Sir John Timpson of thr shoe repair - key cutting chain was on the "What Makes Us Human" section. I As a result Iwas pleased to see that his son James has been included in the proposed Business Councils, assuming they actually have any real influence.
The story of how Sir John Timpson's family lost control of the business and eventually regained ownership is worthybof being s movie script.

I think the architects will be able to point to following the regulations, howsoever stupid they be. From my reading of them, it seems that even the late substitution of cladding grade is still within the regulations.
The regulations themselves are horrendous. You need to cross-refer to different publications including the EU directives. They are an art form of obfuscation.
Meanwhile, Sir Martin Moore-Bick should follow up on his action against reporting part of the evidence by inviting the government to drop its gag clauses

I'm still waiting for the architects and their professional liability insurers to get dragged out - they have *very* obviously done the proverbial runner....

They won't have done a runner. Their Insurers will have told them to shut up, and only answer questions put to them whilst under Oath. None of them have been arrested (?) or charged, yet. They may have to give evidence and be cross examined under Oath at the Inquiry, and this may involve evidence that is now subject to NDAs.
The cost of knocking down Grenfell and rebuilding it, may exceed the maximum Liability Cover of any professional's policy. Then there are the compensation claims, rehousing costs ...

NDA's >>> absoeffinglootely wheeled out usually (but not exclusively) dongled to cash payoffs.
I've signed dozens of product NDAs of the years and got curious enough to scope out the whole subject when I spotted clauses that went beyond simple disclosure into the IP of product enhancements and much else - I've refused to sign several which I thought were taking the piss - and lost work as a consequence.
I've direct experience of court settlements which have included confidentiality provisions which protected simply appalling behaviour and waste in government agencies - where misbehaving officials were also paid off and NDA'd outside the court process itself.
One particular bit of government that I see uses NDAs rather a lot is the NHS - specifically when it comes to managerial incompetence and corruption.
