The Democrats have waged war on Trump, and his personality, background etc. That is appalling in a Democracy, and it is an abuse of Democracy.

I still do not like the man, but I give him credit for what he has achieved, and most of what he has achieved has resulted from him throwing the Diplomatic rule book out of the window.

He has been under hostile fire on the home front too, now he is firing back.

Are you still 100% confident about the "facts" about Trump that have been fed to the UK and US via Press and Media, that YOU use to pass judgement on him? The Steele dodgy dossier was being circulated as top quality secret evidence, compiled by experts in such matters.

The CNN journo was abusing his position of privileged access. I have no idea whether this was his normal ploy. What result was he hoping for? Did he get the result he deserved?

If CNN are only going to report fiction, why should Trump waste his time and that of the rest of the Press? CNN wanted publicity out of confrontation, Trump delivered it.

The power of the Fourth Estate has long been an issue of itself. No less so today of course. Telescreens have long been purveyors of propaganda: the twist today is that the two minute hate is directed against Big Brother in the USA. I see no sign that the US press is muzzled - only that they may not be invited to the Rose Garden if they demonstrate their hatred there live for the cameras.

" Should a President aspire to this power. It wasn't given to him by the people."

Well, he's refusing access to his house to those who don't treat him fairly, in his eyes. The people certainly gave him the power to withhold press passes when the power to issue them was allowed. It's perfectly legal. It is also no big deal, the press may still write about him. I don't think CNN is blameless in this.

Don't you find this situation appalling? Should a President aspire to this power. It wasn't given to him by the people.

I do not put the most expensive brand of tyre on my car. It is not high performance, I do not drive in a style to justify the extra cost, and as F1 shows, the grippiest tyres tend to be made of a softer rubber compound, and do not last very well.

I put some very cheap tyres on a small low performance hatchback in summer 2009. Their tread was "agricultural" They were superb in the snow and ice we had in 2010. Perhaps they were left over stock from the previous winter from a Chinese manufacturer intending them for snow covered mud in their domestic market?

You pays your money and makes your choice.

It may be that the Grenfell Tower designers are arrested and charged. Unless negligence/criminality, design/construction defects come to light, they are going to point to the "fitness for purpose" of the products, as Certified by UK/EU Agencies. This could lead to the Certificating Agencies being grilled. We are aware of checks and investigations across the UK, what about the EU? Who Certified the Fitness for Purpose of the Certifying Agencies?

Bike Tyres. I had a secondhand mountain bike whilst working abroad. The advice given to me was carry spare inner tubes. An inner tube can be replaced quickly at the trackside, the punctured inner tube can be repaired when convenient.

Trump is providing a good old fashioned rent strike.

Now he has expelled a CNN reporter from the White House. CNN have done their worst to Trump, without toppling him. Trump no longer needs to appease CNN.

Trump uses confrontation as a negotiating tactic. He is now offering the White House Press a chance to think about their future employment.

tomo/gc, I've had a lot of problems with tires recently-bicycle tires puncturing on off-road brambles.

After some other repairs, a local bicycle shop fitted me with brand new inner tubes, one of which 'punctured' after less less than a day, and before it got near any brambles. When I took it off to repair it I found that it wasn't a puncture at all, and that it seemed to be made from a type of rubber I had never experienced before. It had simply split along a manufacturing seam, right underneath the words "Made in China". The somewhat more expensive and, so far, better replacements appear more traditionally rubber-like and say "Made in Germany". It seems that there are some other words on tires that can still be relied upon....
(In fairness, I didn't actually investigate to see if there others available that say "Made in Britain".)

The architects then point out all the other Council properties clad with identical systems, and point out that their professional judgement was based on a consensus.
