"Am I alone in thinking that this makes no sense as a strategy?"

It is a perfect strategy, if the Shadow Cabinet are realising that Unreliable Power is an unsustainable Energy Policy, and want to see how much of a kicking they get for saying so. The Liberals have opted for full Green and Remain, so Labour have to offer conflicting messages on both without a decision.

So Astrology really is more useful than Climate Science
Now this is really interesting

Am I alone in thinking that this makes no sense as a strategy?
"Ms Long-Bailey said Labour would be committed to nuclear and making the most of the technology and skills on offer at Sellafield.
She also backed the new £165m undersea coal mine for its potential to boost the country's ability to harness wind power.
"The mine itself will be used for coke in the steel-making process," she said.
"We've got large infrastructure projects that we want to deliver as a Labour government and we want to increase onshore and offshore wind power.
"We don't condone the reopening or opening of any coal mine to burn for energy.""
"Teen climate change campaigner Greta Thunberg to take year off school for US trip"

"As part of her commitment to the cause of reducing carbon emissions, Thunberg does not travel by plane. Accepting an invite to the UN’s special climate change meeting in New York in September means a lengthy transatlantic voyage ahead, so she’s decided to take a sabbatical year to make the journey."
All credit to her for not flying, and thereby avoiding the charge often made (perfectly legitimately) against many climate hysterics of being extreme hypocrites. On the other hand, assuming she isn't going on a sailing ship, what does she think will be powering her jor4uney?
"Bristol climate activists block traffic over consumerism"

"...Three drivers I spoke to were angry, saying they couldn't get through to the hospital and questioned why the police were not doing anything to stop the action.
There are a couple of community support officers explaining to drivers the group has the right to protest...."
At school I remember the new Ice Age scare in the early 1970s. Then we had the drought of 1976. Did any peat bogs in the British Isles suffer any permanent dehydration damage, or was it simply a case of add water for instant bog?

HERU
using my explorations of heat pump pricing as a guide - once the Chinese et al get making these (say £1500 ea.) - they'll be "regulated” - as they are a direct threat to £80/ton landfill tax, the well connected municipal garbage contractors etcetera.
I bet after the DM article we'll see a BBC knocking piece and DEFRA / EA / BIES will be itching to set their folk on it.
what does she think will be powering her journey?

Other people's money?
Isn't it wonderful that school children today can decide to become world experts in Climate Science, and take a year off school to lecture, without knowing any science? No more Jolly Hockey Sticks for Greta. She could even win the Nobel Prize that Mann claimed.
