"Climate change: Earth's deepest ice canyon vulnerable to melting

Eric Rignot collaborates with Eric Steig, not only a Hockey Teamster, but a Real Climate activist too. The search for Trenberth's Missing Heat continues to concentrate on heat that might be there, or anywhere else that no one can actually look and confirm.

“The idea that electric vehicles *could* increase emissions is a complete myth."
.. that doesn't sound like science
.. It sounds like PR

If I felt guilty about owning a Mini, I might go and buy a Tesla
that car with its heavy batteries would use more power to move than the mini.
But naive me might say now I have a green car I'll do a big driving holiday

After 1 year it COULD be that the leccy used to power my Tesla has caused more CO2 than the old mini did.

BBC propaganda back on track, despite coronavirus:

"Climate change: Earth's deepest ice canyon vulnerable to melting

"Electric car emissions myth 'busted'
By Roger Harrabin
BBC environment analyst"

https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/science-environment-51977625

"The study’s lead author, Dr Florian Knobloch from the University of Nijmegen said: “The idea that electric vehicles could increase emissions is a complete myth."

"But that doesn’t mean the problem of cars and the environment is solved. First, it’ll be hard to shift the car fleet to electric in time to meet the UK’s 2050 climate goal.

Second, the process will put a huge strain on the generation and supply of clean energy.

And third, abrasion of electric car tyres and brakes will still create pollution in cities."

Well, quite.

https://www.ceenrg.landecon.cam.ac.uk/people/florian-knobloch

"Dr Knobloch’s research focuses on the area of low-carbon innovation, public policy, macroeconomics, and climate change. His primary expertise lies in the analysis and computational modelling of energy and climate policies, with a focus on simulation methods for analysing the potential impacts of policy instruments on technology uptake and the wider economy. For this purpose, he combines empirical research on choice behaviour with the development of computational models of technological change."

Inevitably the Guardian plugs this too:

"Electric cars produce less CO2 than petrol vehicles, study confirms
Finding will come as boost to governments seeking to move to net zero carbon emissions"

"Cattle gridlock: EU border delays add to coronavirus strain on meat trade
Possible slaughterhouse shutdowns and staffing issues put pressure on ‘vulnerable’ supply chains, as campaigners call for restriction of live exports"

https://www.theguardian.com/environment/2020/mar/23/meat-prices-could-rise-as-covid-19-adds-pressure-to-vulnerable-supply-chain-coronavirus

"Last week queues of up to 60km (37 miles) formed at the Polish/German border on Wednesday after Poland announced that it was shutting to foreigners. Although the closure was supposed to apply solely to people, cargo experienced a knock-on effect, with some trucks reportedly taking as long as 18 hours to get through border controls. More queues formed at the Bulgarian/Turkish border.

Sabine Fisher of German animal welfare group Animal Angels said: “One driver told us that it had taken him three hours to travel 300 metres. There were trucks of sheep, bulls, cows. I’ve never seen a queue like it.”

Under EU regulations no animal should travel for more than eight hours without being rested. Campaigners have now sent a letter to the EU commission calling for the immediate suspension of live animal transport to non-EU countries, and of all journeys over eight hours within the EU, as such journeys also raise concerns over disease transmission."

Another "core" EU value bites the dust.

US Democrats are now blocking coronavirus relief bill unless climate change provisions e.g. green energy & carbon footprints are included.

This isn't likely to end well for them..... I hope.

Latest covid stats ..looking at Fri-Sat Sun data
daily death trend NOT exponential
growth in positive tests NOT exponential

Of course we don't know if someone took it to a boy scout or mosque camp last week
So they might well go back to exponential

EU Greens fail to Unprecedented levels of arrogance, not just stupidity.

"According to Valentin Dupouey, head of communications for the European Greens, a pan-European federation of green parties, a major overhaul of Democracy is required to force acceptance of the economic de-growth required to address the climate crisis.

He also thinks its important to explain to China that because of climate change, “a Chinese average citizen … will never be able to reach the material lifestyle of a French minimum-wage worker. "

"One of the key lessons from the COVID-19 pandemic is that for at least the past decade, *we focused disproportionately, or rather our governments did*, on one potential global threat — human-induced climate change — to the exclusion of all others.

Anthropogenic climate change became the issue that sucked up all the oxygen in the room when it came to a global crisis.

At the expense of, for example, a contagious and deadly virus becoming a pandemic, which public health experts have been warning us about for decades."

*we focused disproportionately, or rather our governments did*

I don't remember any UK Government asking the public for agreement.
(I was not in the UK for most of 2008 when the Climate Change Act of Economic Madness was approved.)

As our pharmaceutical companies have been driven into hiding by Animal Rights Activists, and their research work and abilities compromised, I do hope that the public are reminded that bunny huggers are a threat too.
