Bishop Hill RICO letter disappears
Sep 29, 2015 Ethics Steve Milloy notes that the letter by Shukla et al calling for sceptics to be had up on racketeering charges has suddenly disappeared from the website where it was hosted.

I'm not sure taking the letter down is going to help much though.

shub, climate scientists gave up on science years ago, but some of their lawyers have secure financial futures.
Phillip Bratby, if it isn't hiding in the deep ocean, it isn't climate science. Climate science falls to pieces when exposed to daylight, which is why so little has ever been seen.
Now at WUWT, the news of the RICO disappearing letter. Watts gives me a hat tip for the alert to him, but in my WUWT comment I tip "mpainter" at ClimateAudit for the earliest alert I could find.

Saying that the other letter was put there 'inadvertently' and has been removed, and that the IGES is being dissolved.

But IGES took at least $500k in 2014, according to CA.

No doubt Shukla was appointed to replace the disgraced Pachauri, who resigned from that committee a few months ago. In spite of the the TERI internal complaints council ICC, finding him guilty of sexual harassment, Pachauri is fighting it and was involved in the formation of a new ICC, after the chair resigned. TERI (Pachauri) is now saying the ICC didn't follow the rules of natural justice. The court case will be heard a few days before the Paris jamboree, at which Pachauri will be awarded a lifetime achievement award for services to the environment, (just guessing).
Has anyone made a copy of the IGES website? It's still up at present.
What *have* the climate sceptics stumbled on here?!

Does Pachauri ever get the girl, and retire peacefully on a beautiful tropical island, made immune from sea level rise by the Holy Hockey Stick?

Finally, thanks to climate science, the average academic qualification of prison inmates, will go up. One of those somewhat unintended consequences of climate science, but much welcomed by the rest of the world.

Seems to me that there are two names that are - at the very least - somewhat conspicuous by their absence in the list of signatories to this "comedy of cockups" [h/t Paul Matthews, above].
I can't imagine why Shukla's fellow faux Nobellist, Michael Mann and the equally disgraceful and disgraced water-boy, Peter Gleick were not listed as signatories. Can you?! This kind of litigious nonsense is right up Mann's alley, is it not?!

I don't disagree with dennisa's assessment that Shukla's appointment "Prime Minister’s Council on Climate Change for his native India" is most likely a replacement for Pachauri. But I found the following in GMU's Sept. 1 announcement to be, well, interesting:

According to the UN's very own (albeit recently supplanted) survey, as of Tue Sep 29 2015 22:41:24 GMT-0700 a mere 195,195 of the 901,954 people in India who voted had rated "Action taken on climate change" as one of their top six "priorities" - thereby placing it second from bottom of 16 possible priorities.
Has someone, somewhere on the planet, redefined "overwhelmingly believe"?!
It's also worth noting that the quasi-official rapporteur of countless UN gatherings has concluded its summary of the N.Y. gatherings by noting:
"The Agenda's success" and a 2015 "pivot"?! Who knows what might lurk in "sustainable development", eh?!
My guess is that whatever it might be - and whatever might lurk therein - unless the democratic nations of the world call the UN to the heel of genuine accountability, this purported "pivot" promises prosperity for none - except UN honchos and their ever-increasing army of unthinking supporters.

Paul Matthews, I think they signed the letter, in order to be assured of their place in history. The history of climate soap opera, seems to move faster than the science.
Seeing how GamerGate was a movement to improve ethics in game journalism, in particular to highlight the nepotism and collusion between developers and the media, is this going to become another "gate"?

Yes, I notified Dr. Williams several days ago about the RICO letter, and then again about the CA posting.
I've no idea if he took an interest or not.
Henry Galt: I think you've exhausted the list, now. While you could have packed it with those who are now dead, and many were contemporaneous, they are now gone – and there seems to be precious few (if, indeed, any) to replace them.

According to 'Janes Defence' website the Ricoh letter was sent in support of existing suggestions by Obama and so I am not sure why they would feel threatened by investigation?

The chairman of the Senate committee on Space, Science and Technology, Senator Smith, has written to Shukla.
Chairman Smith: “IGES appears to be almost fully funded by taxpayer money while simultaneously participating in partisan political activity by requesting a RICO investigation of companies and organizations that disagree with the Obama administration on climate change. In fact, IGES has reportedly received $63 million from taxpayers since 2001, comprising over 98 percent of its total revenue during that time.”
