Debunk alarm - Josh 336
Jul 13, 2015 Climate: Ward Josh
There's been a minor kerfuffle of bruised feathers on Twitter today about the speedy way our host debunked the latest paper from the LSE. It does seem that blogs are increasingly agile in spotting duff science - something I am fairly sure is a good thing and should be universally approved of.

Well, Your Grace managed to get up the nose of ATTPetulance - so, RESULT!! What a twitter he is! Hee-Hee. Good one, Josh.
Climatology's Berlin book-burning in reverse.
Ridicule is as good a disinfectant for this sort of thing as the sunlight Bishop Hill shone on it. Bet ATTP won't let you ever comment again on his blog. Good one, Josh.
I assume that was a real name academic Ken Rice defending the work on twitter?
Yes, it was quite amusing to see ATTP twisting himself in knots trying to polish the turd by demeaning the critics. Why not save your strength for the important battles rather than coming to the defense of every crackpot warmist? You don't see many skeptics wasting time providing knee jerk defense of skydragons and greenhouse effect doubters. Why make a fool of yourself defending the indefensible?
Sadly it's because Ken doesn't believe he is wrong.

Poor Prof Rice. It must be wearing to be a guardian at the gate.
Particularly when the gate you think you are guarding is the sewage outflow pipe.
Absurd that Ken Rice thinks he's on the side of the righteous but persistently hides his identity, even when he's been so comprehensively outed. I could give him the benefit of the doubt and suggest his conscience knows the shame that his mindless dissembling brings to the discipline of science.
But I don't think I will - he clearly doesn't deserve it.
Killing two canards with one post.
Serious Point:
This blog knocked back the paper in less than 24 hours. But traditionally such rebuttals take months through journals.
In that time the ideas get wide distribution and so some status. No-one notices the later knock-back.
The internet has made the 20th century scientific institutions obsolete.
" The internet has made the 20th century scientific institutions obsolete."
Totally agree, Science should embrace the open source type concepts that have been amazingly successful in many areas if IT including lots if commercial successes based on it.
I think the LSE has really improved its reputation with what must be one of their best bits of funny money work, since GoDaffy ducked out of their cash registers.
Can we assume that Lord Stern approved it, with all that dodgy financial stuff?
Is that ATTP's face? Looks like it. He's been baiting BH on Twitter for weeks/months. He's out of blogging juice (aka bile) and hopes his baiting will eventually give him something to jump back in.
They don't like it up them, Captain Montford.
ATTP doesn't only think he's right, he thinks he's morally superior, but most of all, he thinks he's cool. No amount of evidence will someone like that relinquish his coolness.
At least "ATTP" is not defending sexual predators... well, he might have and I missed it. There are some brutally repugnant individuals among the warm-mongers.
He thinks he's Horatio, his bluster Oratio;
All over his face shows there is his fake show.
