"Peak heat", peak nonsense

Belatedly, a link from 6 October to John Gummer haranguing the Australians on their global warming policies, if you can bring yourself to watch and listen to it. Too many clichés to mention, from human caused floods in South Carolina to Australians  having to think of their children and grandchildren....... Very feeble interviewer, no challenges and no attribution of the backgrounds of the people asking questions. TM

Jo Nova was on the panel commenting and featured it on her blog;

Needless to say Gummer showed all his sensitivity and diplomatic tact in slagging off Australia 3 days after they had handed the England team their asses at Twickenham.
He is a joy to watch, at one stage unable to remember where COP21 is taking place in 6 weeks!
Given the ABC bias for global warming this was a classic own goal.

Hard to believe a British politician would go to Australia and harangue them, insult them, lie to them and attempt to bully them in the way that Dumber did. I managed to watch half the video before switching it off.

How (and why) did he get to Australia ?

Oct 20, 2015 at 11:54 AM | Unregistered CommenterMorph

Peak greed. Peak stupid. Peak embarrassment.

Lord Deben represents all that has peaked in UK Green politics. It is now downhill all the way for everyone else, with our feet off the "gas peddle" scam.

Oct 20, 2015 at 11:55 AM | Unregistered Commentergolf charlie

Dobbin also announced that we had plans to reduce CO2 emissions by 80% by 2050 and that we were on track, so why develop Shale? Perhaps Dumber has not noticed that yet.

Oct 20, 2015 at 11:56 AM | Registered CommenterDung

Only the closure of our industry puts us on track for CO2 reduction. Other people would call it industrial decline but we call it efficiency.

Oct 20, 2015 at 12:14 PM | Unregistered CommenterJamesG

The closure of the UKs steel industry is one of the triumphs of Green economics, and Lord Deben hopes the Australians will not see how much he has gained from other people's financial loss.

Cameron twiddled his fingers while large parts of our Chemical Industry moved away and now is doing the same with Steel, he is apparently happy with that.

Oct 20, 2015 at 12:47 PM | Registered CommenterDung

The elephant in the room in the current steel industry crisis is the double-whammy of our insane environmental and energy policies. None of the major parties give it more than a passing mention as they're all totally complicit and what's more they know they are.

"what's more they know they are"

I sometimes wonder. Macaroon so regularly spouts nonsense that he's probably forgotten what, if anything, he does believe. Perhaps we're also at Peak Stupidity.

Oct 20, 2015 at 1:15 PM | Registered Commenterjamesp

CheshireRed, I think all the politicians are frightened to be the first to shout Green Scam, especially as the Internet would indicate U-Turns by almost all of them.

In the run-up to Paris, now would be a great time to bury failed dogma. Labour having nothing to lose at the moment, and their traditional support is looking for someone with leadership potential.

Cameron says he is not up for re-election as PM, and his Party is sitting comfortably. Blowing up the CO2 balloon, would be a good way to prove he is tough on EU policy, and tougher on the causes of EU policy. It could be his defining moment, and legacy to the UK and the rest of the world.

Oct 20, 2015 at 1:30 PM | Unregistered Commentergolf charlie

Job done, dobbin need not have bothered, Abbot has been ousted and Harper has been dumped in Canada, it's a free run at Paris and Obama's little helpers will have, have turned the world - their way.

**** democracy, and **** off - to nation states = welcome to OWG Obarmy style.

How (and why) did a buffoon like that ever come to be taken seriously and become a prominent public figure in the first place?

Big problem for Deben's claim that China will be doing what he wants at the next COP.

----
One hundred and thirty-four developing countries, under the G77+China umbrella group, rejected the controversial draft of the agreement for the Paris talks, due in November.

A leading voice of the G77 group+China said on condition of anonymity: “G77 & China group met today and have concluded that the (draft Paris deal) text is unbalanced and that the co-chairs have failed to fulfill their mandate to take into account the views of developing countries.” -

Developing countries have only turned up for any of these climate shindigs, on the basis that billions of dollars are on offer. Small island states have done the same, with pictures of caravans, carefully parked so that high water laps around the wheels.

Similarities between fraud and corruption amongst the the UN, IPCC and FIFA's movers and shakers, is mere coincidence, much appreciated by offshore bankers, as it keeps them afloat, above non rising sea levels.

Financial aid to overseas nations should include the salaries of technicians capable of maintaining the luxury limousines, so that depreciation of assets does not detract from the benefits intended.

China covered its chagrin at Copenhagen over the failure of the shakedown of the guilt-ridden West by pretending outrage at the neo-colonial chicanery of one Obama. Expect a similar outcome at Paris, because the money is simply not there for reparations.

China also has a Tibetan tree ring study untouched by the hands of Mann, as well as a deep cultural memory of its past. I've long suspected that they've figured out that any warming that man can cause will be good for the Middle Kingdom.

More broadly, many are beginning to understand that any warming man can cause will be a net benefit. All this blindered focus on the 'costs' of carbon' have concealed an enormous obvious truth, that warming is good for the earth and all its denizens, and that whatever small aliquot man has added has also been beneficial. There has been great illusion, and tremendous societal harm stems from this sad, destructive, but selectively useful delusion.

The Chinese economy is suffering the downside of a capitalist economy at the moment, but China still holds a good balance of payments.

Many in the West Indies multiple Island States, are very grateful for the International Test Match Cricket Stadiums so kindly paid for by the Chinese, and there is no indication that the Chinese have any expectation of inviting the West Indian greats to teach them cricket. The UK, USSR and USA were never so generous. But in International power politics, cricket may allow the Chinese greater proximity to American minds, than Cuban missiles ever allowed the Soviets.

Islanders in the West Indies do not seem too alarmed by allegedly rising sea levels, as they can not see any obvious gains on offer. There is no point in offering big discounts for seminars on global warming either.

Peak presumption I’d say.
‘Deben also recommended that the Turnbull Government reintroduce an independent climate change advisory committee with Professor Tim Flannery as chair’ (ABC).
Gummer probably was unaware of how asinine that suggestion would sound to his audience.
During drought conditions a decade or so ago (not an unusual occurrence) and due at least in part to the infamous wrongologist’s forecasts, desalination plants were constructed in Victoria, NSW, Adelaide and on the Gold Coast at a cost more than $10bn and have been effectively mothballed but of course require constant maintenance. By 2039-40 Melbourne Water consumers will still have paid more than $18bn to keep its plant going.
Flannery in charge of climate change™ advisory committee — what could possibly go wrong?

Just wait till Trudeau's lot get going.

Already, Canada is retreating from aiding the effort in Syria, cripes on a bike Canada just elected Jezza [Corbyn] - albeit a younger political version but with the same loony left wing profligate spending 'economics of the madhouse' politics - Trudeau jus' following on in the footsteps of his loony old man.

Oct 21, 2015 at 9:05 AM | Unregistered CommenterAthelstan.

Athelstan: yes, Trudeau is another voted in on the “I will end austerity” mandate. What austerity? I suspect austerity has a new definition: from being in hard times, austerity is now living within your means; those who wish to end it are merely promising to, “Spend, spend, spend!” This is something that the sheeple are all too willing to lap up, not acknowledging (or refusing to acknowledge) that someone has to pay the bill sometime; while it might not be them, it will almost certainly be their children and their grandchildren – is no-one thinking of the chiiiildren?

Cosmic: that is a question I have been asking ever since he was just John Selwyn Gummer, MP. It almost makes you wonder what sort of depravity Maggie got up to in her spare time, and how he managed to get hold of the details. What other hold could he have had over her? It certainly does not appear to have been wit or wisdom.

Further to Athelstan's comment [Oct 21, 2015 at 9:05 AM] it is important that people see this video, and reflect upon what it means not just in the narrow field of climate science and green policies, but rather the wider field of a world order being foistered upon us. It is scary stuff, and well worth spending a couple of minutes looking at.

Talk about being prophetic. Lord Monckton at the end of 2014/early 2015 predicted that Harper in Canada would be got rid of, and that there would also be attempts to get rid of Abbott in Australia all before Paris 2015. Both have now gone!

One can clearly see the powers at be working behind the scenes to bring about world governance. Unfortunately, free thinking people should be afraid, very afraid of what is going on in the world. What a pity that MSM is complicit in all of this.

Quite so, richard.

There is quite clearly, what could be termed a 'global elite' and it is a malign influence - of course they'd [this sordid elite] argue vehemently to the contrary.
A global elite have their bankers, in Goldman Sachs who are in prime position to milk the taxpayers of the western world [one wonders how much Obama will $gain, his links to GS are no secret].
Absolutely, we know the great scam is all about tax and control or should I put it scare the beejeepers out of people and then, tax and control, the myriad "climate Armageddon!" scare stories emanating out of NOAA et al have been plastered across the world's media organs which are legion.

In a lecture to the masses through the auspices of that scurrilous climate prognostication and rumour mongering organization - the Tyndall Centre in a preposterous tone some young lady was warning us all of, " Rich Nations Must Combat Climate Change With ‘Planned Austerity’ " and again it's another example of do as I say but not as I do!
As has been pointed out before, here in the UK the nation has lost [off shored I believe the term to be] hundreds of thousands of jobs all thanks to our unilaterally imposed industrial suicide - via the green agenda and it's almost unseen tax regime. It is reckoned that Osborne raked in £45 billion for the carbon floor price imposition - then think fuel duties, business rates, recycling impositions..... and all the rest - KNOW IT, RECORD IT: our political elite is causing this because they toe the line, then march us all in goose step in tune with a global elite who will impose further emissions limitations [Paris] on an already overtaxed nation - Britain.

Next time some bod from either/any political party in Westminster, a politician tells you that, "we are going to help business and bring back manufacturing jobs to Britain" he or she, lies through their teeth. And that's what the green agenda is all about lies, more lies and even bigger lies. If you take the green agenda to the Nth degree - who will pay taxes to keep the administration in jobs, actually is it the plan to metaphorically 'bomb' the western world back to the Neolithic - Dark Ages [or somewhere in between] and in conclusion, the only one to be drawn, one MUST surmise that the answer to that [bomb us back to the Stone Age] is - affirmative.
