Breaking the frame
Jul 30, 2014 Climate: Allen Climate: sensitivity
Nic Lewis has published another paper on objective Bayesian approaches in climate sensitivity study. This looks at an old but very important paper by David Frame and Myles Allen, which implied the use of an objective approach, but actually turned out not to. Lewis's paper looks at two genuinely objective approaches to the problem and compares the essentially identical results they give to the clearly erroneous and inevitably much more alarming one obtained by Frame and Allen.
A very technical blog post on the subject is up at Climate Audit, and the paper is here.

Suntanned and sluggish the body maybe, but I note the marbles have come back refreshed!
Luddites and breaking frames! Took me awhile but then I have not yet attained suntanned and sluggish!
I think the Climatologists should try the old Roman method of examining the entrails of a bird.
It seems to me to be as accurate as anything else they've tried and at least the remains can be eaten.
A very technical blog post at Climate Audit...... Don't expect anything from ZBD then. You could scratch her technical AGW knowledge on the back of a sixpence with a crowbar.
Good to see the Red Team doing their stuff

At first glance this looks like a very interesting paper. I’m increasingly of the opinion that in the same way as Al Capone was undone by tax accountants, climate alarmism will ultimately be undone by statisticians pulling it apart.
I’ve just written a blog post on it here:
