Diary date: Happy Thursdays

The House of Lords is releasing its report on shale gas tomorrow and to mark the occasion Benny Peiser is going to be debating unconvential gas on a new subscription radio service called Fubar. He's up against a gentleman known only as "Bez", who apparently used to be in a famous beat combo called the Happy Mondays (who came after Duran Duran and are therefore beyond my ken).

Fubar comes to you via a mobile app, but there is a free 30-day trial, so everyone can listen if they like.

The show is between 10am and 1pm, but there is no indication of when the shale segment will be.

Bez was the on stage dancer.

I fear that it will be somewhat unsporting to listen in if Bez is genuinely the only opposition for Benny

Well, well... Bez. He'll be playing to the gallery then.

Bez's opinions of fracking are.......well.....judge for yourselves.

The only possible answer to his repeated question : "Do you know what I mean?" is...er.....no, not really.

I would not fancy debating him. You could not, in any sense of the word, win.

"FRACKING will defeat Russia's gas supply blackmail of Europe" says Surbiton's winsome Ed, 48.

An IQ that falls somewhere to the south of a Page Three girl's. Thank God we're being spared the topless photo.

I have to admit in my youth to going to see the Happy Mondays a few times. If you you tube them, Bez is the guy with eyes like saucers - you can guess why!. He won Celebrity Big Brother I believe a few years back, this debate should not be too hard for Mr Peiser.

Is Bez in any way coherent these days? He never used to be.

Not that being a former pop star gives you great insight into the issues of the day anyway, but there is a segment of the UK public that thinks it does.

A chink of light at the end of the tunnel? It is possible that a somewhat sane energy policy is on Ed Davey's agenda?

If so, thanks Vlad!

It seems like rather a sham debate to me. They bring in Bez? If they'd called in The Cheeky Girls I might have taken it seriously.

In related news, Ed Davey has taken to the pages of the Sun (£) to emphasise the energy security benefits of shale gas in the light of the Ukraine crisis.

Well that proves it. The man is a clown.

Davey is frit.

I think he twisted his melon.

Fubar- rather an unfortunate name.

A geologist's affectionate acronymic term for a rock which has suffered multiple extremes of stress.

Benny Peiser will be up against a stash of class 'A' drugs fatter than Al Gore. He doesn't stand a chance.

P.S. You can't believe the liberal coolerati want to save us from the red menace. Pathetic.

I don't think Benny needs the exposure that much to debate someone like Baz, who we all know will just be a screeching loon bag! Debates like this serves no purpose other than to entertain the low information "voter" who, quite frankly, deserve every damned green tax they get imposed on themselves!

Common where I worked too, usually when hardware or software was improved by a fresh-faced graduate.

Start the debate by asking Bez what day it is. Make the decision to proceed based on his answer.

"Bezzed" is another way of saying "off yer face".

FRACKING will defeat Russia's gas supply blackmail of Europe, the Energy Secretary has declared.

I'm sure he meant WINDMILLS.

It's also possible now to listen to that debate on Soundcloud:

Just listening to the interview - cannot understand a thing Bez is saying. Not impressed by Mark Dolan either.

May 8, 2014 at 10:26 PM | Unregistered CommenterJack Cowper

I tried to listen to the interview. Couldn't understand Bez at all. Probably didn't help that he was on a crackly phone but he wasn't speaking proper words at all. Gave up after only a few minutes - sorry Benny, but it was painful listening to Bez.

If Bez doesn't get last place in the elections like Bob Dennett did for the Greens in Flyde then I'll eat my hat.
