Celebrity greens inflagrante

There is much amusement to be had from the news that a group of US celebrity greens have been caught accepting covert funding for their anti-fracking movie from someone they believed to be seeking to end US energy independence. Unfortunately for them it was a sting.

Oops.

Hooray for Hollywood
That screwy ballyhooey Hollywood
Where any office boy or young mechanic can be a panic
With just a good looking pan
And any barmaid can be a star maid
If she dances with or without a fan

Hooray for Hollywood,
Where you're terrific if you're even good
Where anyone at all from Shirley Temple to Aimee Semple
Is equally understood
Go out and try your luck, you might be Donald Duck
Hooray for Hollywood

Hooray for Hollywood
That phoney super-Coney Hollywood
They come from Chillicothes and Paducas with their bazookas
To get their names up in lights
All armed with photos from local rotos
With their hair in ribbon and legs in tights

Hooray for Hollywood
You may be homely in your neighbourhood
But if you think that you can be an actor, see Mr. Factor
He'll make a monkey look good
Within a half an hour you'll look like Tyrone Power
Hooray for Hollywood

Hooray for Hollywood

What an interestingly convoluted place this world has become. Unholy alliances of unlikely bedfellows colluding to defeat reason itself. We are back in medieval times.

Knowingly working for another nation against your nation's interests is treason, isn't it?

Wasn't that Hitler's philosophy.

I can understand people having a degree of concern about tracking. Like any new development it would be likely to create a certain amount of new traffic which might be unwelcome where the roads are country lanes, which is rather less likely in the United States than in Great Britain. However, those who are opposed to tracking in principle are allies of Putin (even if he isn't quite as bad as Prince Charles suggested) and of the leaders of regimes in the Middle East. Even the friendliest of those governments are ones on which it would be wise for us to become too dependent.

Therefore the anti-cracking campaigners not only threaten the economies of Western nations, they are also a potential threat to world peace.

Tiny co2 - love it!

I am wondering if someone should twitter Mr Mann about his loving big oil!

Excellent Tiny co2

Sankara - I did tweet in a reply to Mann/Begley hero worship tweets, but Dr Mann won't see it because he blocked me when I pointed out, based upon his logic, that #KochBrothers funded him by funding PSU.

Good sting operation but Josh Tickell does not accept or agree in writing or email or text any money transfers so they don,t actually implicated themselves.

However it still shows them in a very very bad light.Steven O Keefe needs to release all his covert footage because they can claim they were only talking Hypothetically.O keefe has been successfully sued for hidden camera slander before.

But still great to watch.

Steven O keefe tries to set up Josh Fox quite farcical really but Fox soon cottons onto him.

Perhaps Ed Begley should have got the offer peer reviewed first.

One might ask how shipping oil from Saudi Arabia is greener than obtaining it here in the US; unless the real interest is to kill the boost to the economy that fracking seems to have brought us.

I hope that this revelation gives some of these people pause.

Treason is colluding with enemies of the US, which is defined to be at war. The US can be considered to be at war AQ, but the US is not at war with Russia, so colluding with Putin (Russia) would not meet the test for treason.

The charge of "Treason" gets thrown about quite a bit, but the hurdle to charge treason is quite high.

Tickell? not exactly a common name... merely a coincidence?

May 22, 2014 at 11:45 PM | Registered Commentertomo

Here in New Zealand many of our media luvvies aka 'slebrities' and actors (of either gender) are almost interchangable with deep and protesting Greens. In a country that lives on agricultural, horticultural and viticultural production, mining, etcthe Greens seem to believe that these activities harm their beloved Gaia and as for oil exploration, that is not to be tolerated! All this silliness and ignorance despite their love of expensive oil-reliant lifestyles.
Many of us ordinary (ie not in the meeja) folk have not figured out how reading a script then acting it out in front of a camera makes anyone an 'expert' on anything apart from being in 'the meeja'.

Many of us ordinary (ie not in the meeja) folk have not figured out how reading a script then acting it out in front of a camera makes anyone an 'expert' on anything apart from being in 'the meeja'.

This ordinary folk thinks that it makes them unqualified to talk about anything except reading a script, in some cases that is in doubt too.

@3x2 refers to this 2011 case of activist scientists making up data against Chevron in Ecuador..Chevron eventually won.
“Facts do not exist. Facts are created.” That’s the lawyer who directed the supposedly independent research. The woman chuckling in the seat next to him is Dr. Ann Maest: the scientist who conducted the Ecuador study, and later disavowed its findings…

…The very same scientist whose work is cited multiple times in the Bristol Bay Watershed Study. full story

(O/T not really me @johanna I just Googled @3x2's point and summarised it
..Maybe @3x2 was pushed for time , but generally I thinks it's better for commenters not just to post a link and force 20 people individually to wade thru the article, but rather summarize their point at the same time as they post the link..and especially highlight if it is an old story)

(BTW johanna has a record for correctly calling out trolls.. We have a thread for Discussion of trolls deliberately disrupting BH )

The Tickells are definitely toast. I don't see how anybody who wants to maintain credibility could be seen working with them after this.

The reputation of the actors is just by the by, they just come out of this as the shallow empty headed idiots I think most people expected they were.

I thought the part at 12:45 on summed it up. That's where Josh Tickell explains how he has no moral issue with the source of the money and how adept he is at damping down the troubling "moral vibrations" of the source money; keeping the concerned actors, like Mark Ruffalo, from knowing about these details.

This reminds me of the famous apocryphal story about the Queen that wherever she goes in public she always smells fresh paint. Seems these Hollywood actors live in a calm corridor of worthy righteousness with hangers on and parasites smoothing away all the wrinkles of real world away from them.

Thanks, stew. I can smell these creeps a mile off. I was right about Chandra and I am right about this one.

People here spent a lot of time and space on the blog attempting to have a meaningful discussion with someone whose entire agenda was to suck up and divert our energy. Just like BBD of earlier times.

And, hey presto! as soon as that fraud is ejected, a new one pops up.
