Eustice gets climate advisory role
According to Business Green, Cornish MP George Eustice has been handed the role of energy and climate advisor to David Cameron.
Interestingly, he is ex-UKIP, but BG reports that he is sound (from their perspective) on environmental matters, despite having opposed windfarms in his own constituency.
One source said that while he was clearly opposed to the perceived over-development of renewables in his own constituency, he was nevertheless well informed on the overall climate and energy debate and was broadly positive towards the green economy.
The penny is taking a long time to drop with Mr Cameron.
As far as I can tell, this is his only utterance in Parliament on climate change. This makes him a very strange choice as a parliamentary adviser on the subject.
His interest in energy seems to be restricted to marine power.
Leo Hickman notes a withdrawn wind turbine application at Eustice's address, although perhaps it's a neighbour.

Mrs Cameron probably doesn't help. Lady Gnome performs a similar function at Private Eye...
Interestingly his constituency, Camborne and Redruth in Cornwall, was one of the areas where UKIP polled very well in the recent County Council elections, winning several seats.
This may be more to do with a previous position. He was Cameron's press officer from 05 til 08 when Andy Coulson took over. Maybe he is there more as a friendly face and/or known quantity?
No mention of his qualifications that I could find although he apparently attended Cornwall College.
This strikes me as a clever move, to have someone with knowledge and objectivity to counter the ideologues like Davey and Mrs Cameron!
Someone who says in parliament
and writes on his blog does not seem to be a bad choice.@Jamesp Lady Gnome performs a similar function at Private Eye...
*Sighs*. This, dated today.
GF - I thought that was quite encouraging, although they're a bit late to the party, and I suspect that Old Sparky is only just tolerated. Booker (a founder member) never seems to get a look in...
How did a man Like Eustice ever get into Ukip? It must have been before they tightened up their vetting procedures.
It is easy to see why he would have to leave.
Can't think why this sprang to mind.
