Grossly Inflated Scare Stories or
Generally Inaccurate Science Studies

They should always be referred to as "GISS, Inc." since there motto is clearly "we scare because we care" or was it "we cheat with the heat"? I forget!

Peterwalsh - the GI in GISS must be garbage in, but what about the SS? Skeptical Sciece perhaps?

Grossly Incompetent Settled Science
Gore's Invented Science Scam

Shouldn't the UCS also be re-named The Union of Cornered Scientists ?

Um...if garbage goes in, something must eventually exit at the other end of the natural process I suppose. But if I write my thoughts on that here then the Lord of our Manor might just chop us both off, particularly if I was to say something such as "S..t Surfaces" but anyway, I won't say that At all At all At all!

Come on guys, the S is definitely not Science.

Good one, Josh.

Possible subtitle: "Chicken Little sets off for work."

What is this about?

Jan 19, 2013 at 1:23 AM | Registered Commentershub

It is probably about having a little fun with words shub.

At the expense of the ungodly CAGW fruitcakes.

Letting off a little steam also, after which normality rules again.

All work and no play makes shub a dull boy?

Ghastly incomprehensible senseless scenarios.

Has nobody noticed that tv weather forecasters are now at pains to point out that, e.g.: 'It will be just about zero in town centres, but in rural areas could be minus 3C...'
Ah - so that'll be the Urban Heat Island effect then, that didn't used to exist..??

Jan 19, 2013 at 1:14 PM | Unregistered CommenterDavid

I don't think anyone has ever disputed the urban heat island effect. The dispute is over whether it affects trends - is the town centre always 3 degrees warmer than rural areas; have thermometers been moved from rural to urban areas or vice versa, thus influencing trends...etc.

I thought some latest cock-up/coverup by GISS has been unearthed.

Just had to add my thoughts about acronyms:
Goverment Idiots Subverting Science
(See Phillip, S can be science as in science the victim)

The past does not change unless the GISS or SKS is involved:

Did you check the skepticalscience video from the link? At 0:30 seconds, the narrator claims that 'natural variabilty' caused an uneven rate of temperature increase, such variability arising from 'major volcanic eruptions'. Even a high school student would know that volcanoes lie outside the climate system.

Shub, Anthony is now hinting on WUWT that this cartoon refers to an as-yet unpublished story.

The reason for this cartoon about the Union of Concerned Scientists will become clear in a couple of days.

Seems a bit odd for Josh to be pre-empting in this way. So it goes.
