The forbidden history of unpopular people

This really excellent video about free speech was recently posted up at Jo Nova's site.

With the Leveson inquiry currently looking at regulating the press and blogs in the UK, this is well worth passing on.

Ah yes: common good - fails every time.

Excellent - shame he couldn't get John Stuart Mill right.

Being an American, I sometimes feel like the basic values in the bill of rights that were experimentally codified here over 200 years ago are not taking hold properly elsewhere. Talking to foreigners I sometimes get the feeling that the chaos that America appears to be from the outside (it's certainly not perfect at the moment) is so distasteful that the rest of the world is slowly taking those values to be foolish.

Then occasionally I see videos like that.

Great video.

Only problem is, based on the climategate e-mails, I could see at least one climate scientist fitting the description of "...widely despised, very unpopular, and thought to be ill-tempered, tactless, intolerant, and superlatively offensive."

Nice video. Reminds of Keith Kloor. If you don't agree with him, you are 'anti-science'.

Sadly, I think we in GB are in "advance" of Australia in the suppression of Free Speech.

A very good video.

To see what happens in the UK, look at The Secret History of our Streets, broadcast on BBC2 last night. It reveals how the power of the state - in this instance represented by the old LCC and Lewisham Council - destroyed the community that lived in Deptford in the immediate post WW2 years.

Christopher Booker regularly reports in the Sunday Telegraph the extraordinary, unaccountable powers exercised today by social workers and family courts.

These guys have obviously studied Penn and Teller - which is a good thing - and best wishes for their future projects.

I did cringe at the John Mills howler, plus the mis-spelling of 'Wilberforce'. With all the spelling and grammar pedants out there available for free, it is always a mystery why these things happen. I have emailed them offering my services in that regard. :)

"These guys have obviously studied Penn and Teller - which is a good thing - and best wishes for their future projects."

I just have to comment johanna - one guy, split screen! Edits between segments ... (appears that way to this poster anyway) a 'workable' format (literally: a format which works effectively) in any case.

Excelent presentation.
However, may be too little too late. The Government/s are being controlled by the world Corporate Laws and I hate to say this but the time of Man Joining Satan may be a lot closer than we know.
The speech, Internet, thought, expression, is all being and has been manipulated and controlled with an ever increasing tempo. The reasons are simple, One World Government One world rule with the Illuminated at the helm. The Churches and the monachs have either been asleep or have been coersed into joining the cause. The brain washing and preperation started a long time ago, more recently however Hollywood had wonderfull TV Series and Films showing a united world working in unison with other beings for a greater good of the free planets. Comical really, to think that Star Trek movies were being shown to military recruits in Australia over 15 years ago. In the waiting room while the selection process and after the exams process was being sorted.
Blog sites with open comments are being taken down, Google was ordered to shut down over 1000 Christain web sites by the US Congress some months ago. January I think 2012.
The Government has a lot of non religeous Politicians, Or so they claim, however, they do follow the relegion of Mamon. The power base is in the faceless factions that pull the strings, the puppeteers. They have been eroding and removing peoples rights with legislation often including little undisclosed additions masked by the real reasons behind the legislation. Wording it in such ways that the average person would not see it or understand. Why have the standards of education fallen in public schools? The KISS Principle. Keep it Simple Stupid. Or keep us simple and stupid. The Constitutional rights we have have been eroded, Problem is that we are so used to trusting our elected leaders without knowing that almost all that enter the power politics game are or become part of the system they then start to care about number one after all is that not peoples nature. Very few believe that they are obliged to follow God, King and Country. God has been removed, King is out as the royalty is only a figure head, Country is run by elected political professionals that are part of the problem. How do we control the population growth, how do we control the people, how do we corrupt what they believe in and reduce their ethical and moralistc standards? When we become too complacent and overly trusting we become victims of our own ignorance and guilability.
Keep up the good work and good luck.
I noticed a lot of changes and a lot of monitored web sites,
These days the bad guys just may set up web sites like this to attract attention and get names for those they wish to keep an eye on.
