Oct 1, 2012 Climate: WG2 This morning we have an amusing example of the green approach to truth and accuracy. Fiona Armstrong, the Australian green, retweeted the Climate and Health Alliance, an organisation of which she is a board member, as follows:

The link is to a press release by Caha, signed by Armstrong herself. If you follow the link you find two statements on the numbers of global deaths.
A failure to act on climate change is costing the global economy $1.2 trillion annually and is responsible for 400,000 deaths each year,
and
The DARA 2012 Climate Vulnerability Monitor report entitled “Cold Calculus for a Hot Planet” said a continued pattern of the world’s current carbon intensive energy use would cause 6 million deaths a year by 2030, with 700,000 of these attributable to climate change;
Take an exaggeration and exaggerate it a whole lot more.

Don't the Greens believe that there are far too many people on the planet anyway? One would have thought they would have seen this in a positive light.
The report analysis by that well-known denier, Bjorn Lomborg, points out that the 400,000/year is an exaggeration of a made up figure in the first place, and consists mainly of people who die from 'carbon' caused by indoor fires for cooking and warmth.
So the solution is probably the exact opposite of what the greens want, i.e. to provide lots of nice clean electricity to the poor of the world.

However, what is real and provable is that road deaths exceed a million a year globally. Serious injuries are a multiple of that.
Then we have the much greater scourge of bad water and disease. Hunger. War and violence.
If we are really concerned about our fellow man, there are serious concerns that obviously and with no exaggeration of the numbers we need to help with. The fantastic stories about climate change deaths as a main scourge are just diversions from getting down to doing something about real and present problems.
There is a strong argument for banning beds.
A huge proportion of people die in bed.
We must stop this senseless loss of life NOW!

Green policies such as high energy for heating bills & biofuel have caused a magnitude of deaths higher than CO2 emissions. I would think that an in depth inquiry would concur that low energy prices however achieved would be a major life saver.

Mainly pensioners on fixed tiny pensions are faced with the choice of staying warm or eating.

Take an average base line temperature of 15c, divest me of all clothing and shelter, add/subtract 20c and I guarantee you I'll survive longer at 35c than at -5c!

Better idea instead of spending billions Capturing Carbon and paying dirt poor peasants not to cut down trees for a few Dollars each
Why not spend millions putting Roads, Electricity and Fresh Water out to these 3rd World Villages.
Proper factory farming and proper factory industry.Make Playstations and Toyota's instead of Babies.
These people will be able to look after themselves for once and not Oxfam and UNICEF .

Now it's global warming, not overfishing, that's going to be responsible for reduced sizes of modelled adult fish. A case of "Honey, We Shrank The Fish."?
The BBC then even manages to take the pi$$ out of itself by juxtaposing this above the other recent story copied-from-the-back-of-a-box-of-breakfast-cereal about there being only 100 adult cod left in the North Sea. Only now the BBC are making sure we know that the Daily Telegraph fell for this one first.

It's amazing how the greens worry about non-existent deaths from global warming, but don't give a FF that 2000 children a day die from malaria because of DDT bans lobbied for by the er, let me think now who lobbied for the banning of DDT...
Fiona should have asked Stephan Lewandowsky to check the maths before issuing the press release. He is, after all, an expert advisor to CAHA.

Ah, but, geronimo. DDT was never actually banned, you understand. That's just a myth put about by Big Someone or Other. All we ever did was move heaven and earth to get governments to stop allowing people to use it. Not the same thing at all.
And as for people dying. Well, we all have to die of something sooner or later and our plans will just mean that a few million of the unnecessary ones will die a bit quicker. I mean, the poor, the old — who needs them? As for the differently-hued indigenous populations of faraway countries about which we know very little, have you seen the way they breed? Quite disgusting.

In the 1980s, a Boeing 747 was on finals one morning at Bombay (as it was then called) when a light aircraft strayed into the flight path. After a well-drilled go around led to stabilization, the pilot used the mike to berate the air traffic controller. After a lengthy pause, the response came back, "Oh, goodness gracious, not another day like Tuesday!".
In Australia, bad news on climate comes out every day, not just on Tuesdays. Sadly, Australia is punching above its weight in the weird stakes, reflecting a failure of honest, objective teaching and education for the past few decades. Many of the greens I have met are teachers by admission.
If it helps, to the extent that I can, I apologise for Australia's bad publications recently.

I suppose the WI have jumped on the bandwagon because of the poor fruit harvest this year will result in a downturn in their finances due to lack of jam produced.

This is a vast improvement over blaming global warming, ocean acidification, rising sea levels, etc., they've worked out now that we know they're FOS. Wasn't so long ago that an esteemed researcher from JCU proclaimed the GBR as being in great health, much better than we thought.
"Green honesty" is a misnomer.
"Green dishonesty" is the only term I will accept....as in FRAUD DECEIT FALSITY PERFIDY TRICKERY CHICANERY FALSEHOOD.
Police-sponsored effective rape of young activists by the likes of Mark Kennedy shows greens not more dishonest, rather more easy to fall for dishonesty. And that explains why many green leaders are dishonest.
I emailed Ms. Armstrong, to ask for her comments on all these differing figures. I have had no reply. Nor did I when I emailed the new leader of the Green Party here in the UK, asking how she came up with the figure she gave out on TV, that the "green" sector, whatever that is, now contributes as much as the City to UK GDP - i.e. c 11 or 12%. I got no reply. Indeed, not once, when emailing anyone involved in Green/CAGW scamworld requesting clarification of this, that or the other, have I had a reply. All my emails are written carefully so as not to offend - but it seems that just to question these weirdos is in itself an offence.
