St Andrews tonight

Just to confirm that I'm speaking tonight in St Andrews. The talk is 8pm in the Physics Building (Lecture Theatre B). The public are welcome.

Well, it seems that the talk has been given fairly even-handed pre-publicity:

In late 2009, thousands of emails were hacked or leaked from the Climatic Research Unit at the University of East Anglia. The private correspondence of some of the most prominent scientists in the field painted an ugly picture of climatology, with scientists apparently engaged in intimidation of journals, withholding of data, flouting of Freedom of Information legislation and more.

Andrew Montford is the author of The Hockey Stick Illusion, a history of some of the events leading up to Climategate, as well as a report about the whitewashed inquiries that followed. In this lecture he will examine some of the principal allegations, show how the establishment manoeuvred to ensure that the scientists were exonerated, and will consider the next moves from both sides of the debate.

The lecture is being sponsored by the Tayside Local Section of the Royal Society of Chemistry ... I wonder what the connection is?

The connection is that a member of the Tayside Branch of the RSC read the HSI and thought it was a Good Thing.

I think the HSI is a Good Thing too, and I am pleased to see my old alma mater hosting this even - in the building where I did undergraduate physics to boot! Happy days. Good luck this evening, Bish!

Good Luck, yer Grace. I, too, will be looking forward to hearing how you were received. A report from anyone in the audience would be welcome....

I would have liked to have attended but it was too far away.
Any feedback on how this event went?

Your Grace,
Rather off topic, but as there are not too many replies I will be bold enough to urge you to write a second book.
This one is all about how the four enquiries were held (one in USA, 3 in UK).
You write so well -clear, explaining the science so all can understand.

On reflection, there are more than four enquiries.
The IPCC had one -not a complete whitewash.
There is a second one in UK parliament at present.
An inspector general has looked at Amann (?spelling) and he has made an admission.

It is all documented at Climate Audit.
But it needs to be written up more clearly.
Steve is the master detective but has to document each and every step.
It needs to be spelt out in a book, smoothed out for an easier read.

Please DO do it.

I trust the GR 40's were revving up. Or is that Euro ... erm ... Typhoon ? Still, there's always AWACS ...

Kudos to the Fleet Air Arm
