Bishop Hill Big freeze in Guizhou
Jan 5, 2011 Climate: Surface The BBC report that that big freeze has spread to southern China:
Freezing temperatures in south-western China have forced the evacuation of 58,000 people from their homes, according to the Chinese authorities.
Ice and snow have closed roads, leaving thousands of motorists stranded.
This is all happening in Guizhou province, which I visited in the 1990s. Guizhou is subtropical - right down on the border with Vietnam - so this must be pretty unusual.

We don't perceive averages. I am affected by the weather here and now, not by the global gridded mean.
Quite right. This was supposed to have been the "hottest summer" in California, based on the temperature of four thermometers spotted along the beaches. The tomatoes all over the state were unimpressed and still ripened about about a month late reacting to the actual temperature in their garden, which was quite cool.
It's the 3% of Climate Scientists who don't believe in AGW that interest me.
I think that Norfolk police may want to have a word with both of them!

Actually, the beaches were cooler just like the Central Valley. We had a few days here and there above average, but, most of the summer and this fall and winter have been a little below average!! We also received about 6 times as much rain in December than normal in the Los Angeles area!!! (9.7/1.6)

@ZBD - I find it rather peculiar that you have so much respect for 'climate scientists' and their adjusted temparure measurements after Climategate showed up the lack of integrity in that profession. "Hide the decline" indeed. Do you trust them 100% to tell you the truth? If not 100% then that makes you a sceptic or even worse...
If 100% is your number then I have a bridge that you might be interested in buying. Its a steal. Trust me..
I was recently introduced to the concept of 'Seagull management', this being a description of the type of person that only appears occasionally, but when they do they squawk a lot and crap everywhere before flying off again.
