Oxburgh today

I've just been browsing the BBC and Parliament websites. As far as I can see, the questioning of Lord Oxburgh is going to be shown only on the Parliament website and not on the BBC. The link is here.

It looks as if Oxburgh has been tacked onto the end of a meeting about the UK's space capabilities. This starts at 9:30, so I'm guessing Oxburgh will not be on for at least an hour thereafter.

At least the audio's better this time, sounds like the space section is wrapping up now as of 1025

Half expected Acton to appear beside him.

Some REALLY interesting body language coming off Oxburgh!

Some person on the panel.. who he won't name.. apparently claimed he was a sceptic.. so the panel thus had a sceptic on it.

Err.. WTF?!

Grawrrah!!

I just polluted my system with Novell Moonlight and it still doesn't work.

Why oh Why did Parliament choose such a nasty video system? Even the ever terrible and unreliable Flash would be better. But better, why not go to nice open standards that just work? e.g. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theora

There's a "Try Windows Media Player" link at the bottom.. would that work?

This is, without a shadow of a doubt, an Oxburgh train wreck.

Perhaps - if I was running Windows.....

I've got a pretty strong recent history in digital media. I've probably lost 5 years of my lifespan just because of Flash failures on Windows machines - amongst others.

When you know how simple is the process of streaming video/audio and how almost every commercial product makes it propietary (and faulty) - simply to lock out the opposition - you start to weep.
