Nice work if you can get it...

From the Glasgow Herald:

A former civil servant criticised for his role in the Holyrood Parliament building fiasco has pocketed £40,000 for chairing an inquiry into the recent climate change row.

Sir Muir Russell walked away with nearly £6000 a month for leading a probe which cleared scientists at the University of East Anglia of data manipulation.

And he didn't even attend the interview with Phil Jones.

Who was it who paid Russell? Was it with taxpayers money? Can I chair the next enquiry? I guarantee not to look at the real questions and find them not guilty on my strawman arguments.

Hmmm they look after their own very well - all at taxpayers expense!

I can't help wondering if he is a freemason. I'm not one for conspiracy theories, particularly those which involve secret societies and such, but with a track record like that one suspects an old boys network of some sort.

He was on a fixed fee. Ah ha....That was probably the real reason why they didn’t have time to look at all the emails that haven’t been released... yet.

Pat Michael's opinion of whether or not Muir Russell's dossier was 'dodgy'.

Well actually, it's not that much.

UKP 6000/mo is UKP300/day for a 20 working day month.

Your humble correspondent gets ~UKP1200/day for significantly less glamorous work - and that's 10am - 4pm with a 90 minute lunch break. Admittedly that is during court sessions.

Most IT guys in my location get around UKP600/day for 200 days/year.

Jerry

Read the rest of the Herald article. They were not working anything like 20 days per month.

£40k the present day value of 30 pieces of silver?

Well it was shorter so it must have cost more, £20,000 a page ?

"nearly £6000 a month for leading a probe which cleared scientists"

Presumably he'd have got the same if he hadn't cleared them, but would then have been blacklisted...
